I have no independent verification of this story. The nature of the media silence suggest that it is, but again, who knows?

The lead in "Squirrel gun used in holocaust memorial shooting" is in itself as disturbing as the story. Those "squirrel guns" as it was put and the 22 long rifle are just as capable of taking life as say a .44 magnum. The only real difference is that it requires more care in shot placement.

To many stories like this one and the next thing we are going to see out of the mouths of the Anti Gun crowd is verbiage relating to those "dangerous squirrel guns".

If I am not mistaken, it was the Pro Gun crowd that coined the term "assault rifle" to begin with. Look at what that has been turned into.

We must be mindful of our words in this day and age. They can, have, and will be used against us.

There is no such thing as "just a 22".

    Food for thought,

    I agree Gerald.
I disagree with your notion about anti's coining the term "assualt weapon". The military coined the term.
However, anti's use it as a broad term to mean ANY gun that is scary looking to them, or holds more than a few cartridges. It is their default term to use in an attempt to strike fear in people.

In terms of abosolute yes the military did first coin the term. It was then picked up by the civilian firearms market. It was that use of the word in relation to the civilian market that I referred to.

Just so you know I do my own research and fact checking on everything I write. If I publish something it is as true as my sources. I contact the public information officers of police agencies and often contact actual witnesses. I don't lift crap from new publications. They also anounced they found some 35 additional .22 LR rounds in the shooter's car. They said it was enough to kill dozens of people... More claptrap...
