HR45

Hi, I'm new to this type of site, but I just wanted to encourage other gun owners to Google {HR45} which Congress has in commitee. Basically, it's legislation that was quietly introduced to attempt licensing of ALL privately owned firearms in the US and to ban private person to person sales. This sounds like a real effort to erode not only our right to keep and bear arms, but could also have a far reaching and restrictive effects all other personal freedoms we all enjoy. Please! Take a minute to Google and read this and make others aware, it's such a critical issue. Thank you, Doug

Blair-Holt has been discussed many times on this forum and in GD. Prepare yourself for the 'beating a dead horse' crowd to wallop the newbie.[:)]
That said, obviously HR45 is currently dead, but it is the goal of both the establishment Democrats and the establishment Republicans, and because of that, is always a risk to re-surface. We all remember both Obama and McCain being strong supporters of closing the 'Gun Show Loophole', and in that, both reflected the goal of 'common sense gun legislation' that is supported by both parties and the NRA.
The supposedly ground-breaking Heller decision kicked the door wide open for the passage of this legislation, and much of the wording in the decision will have to be discounted for any court to overturn it when it passes.
Make no mistake; most of those that will bash you for bringing up old news support your position on the surface. It would be naive, however, to think they really believe the Federal Government does not have the authority to pass this.
Welcome to the forum. Gird thy loins, as we are not all birds of a feather, though 'twould be nice if we were.

Don pretty much covered it.
