DoD Proposed Gun Control

Friends,

As many of you may know, the Obama regime through the Department of Defense is proposing extreme new gun control measures in the wake of the shootings by a radical jihadist at Fort Hood. Among them are requiring all military members to register their guns on base, whether or not they live there, and requiring guns to be stored with trigger locks, unloaded, locking ammunition separately, etc. This will apply even to families living in civilian communities. The DoD is seeking to impose in our communities the same gun control measures struck down last year in DC by the Supreme Court. They want to deny military members and their families the very same right to keep and bear arms the Supreme Court recognized last year for residents of DC. Further, they plan to ban all concealed weapons on post, whether or not the person has a concealed carry permit. This is truly gun control gone crazy by the Obama regime.

The DoD Office of the Provost Marshal General is in the comment period on the proposed regulation change. Please feel free to send comments to:

One other tidbit. Below is the response from the NRA-ILA and their advice to contact your member of Congress to stop this.

"Thank you for contacting NRA-ILA. The NRA is aware of the extremes measures the DOD is proposing in the wake of FT. Hood and we are monitoring the situation. However, at this point our best option to change the policy is to pressure Congress to intervene. Again, thank you for your inquiry and please do not hesitate to share any of your thoughts or concerns in the future. Sincerely,Kyle CNRA-ILA Grassroots Division"

Please spread the message far and wide, repost on other gun rights boards, call and write your member of Congress. Help stand-up for the rights of those who defend our rights!

Figures they blame the gun on Fort Hood. When DOD could have prevented the situation by being proactive with their own personel policy.

I seriously doubt that they can enforce OFF BASE quarters. On a military base/post, is a completely different situation. Most bases do not authorize concealed weapons. That's why most bases can and do search,at random, in coming POV's, contractors and semi's as they come on base. The entrances are posted clearly that all vehicles are subject to search. In and out. Most posts have DoD civilian Police Officers to deal with civilian personnel. Neither MP's or DoD Civilian Police have authority out side of the federal property they are assigned to. Except in EXTREME circumstances. And this doesn't qualify. Now. IF the Military are leaseing a group of civilian housing for exclusive military use, that could be authorization for MP's to take action out side the "wire". Even then I would think that they would only have authority over the military member. Any firearms owned and registered to the spouse would probably be hands off to MP's. Just a guess.

As for blameing the gun on Ft. Hood. What would you expect? To do anything else would be admitting they screwed the pooch on that one. That political correctness failed them on a catostrophic,(sp?), level. And you could slowly boil them in oil and they would never admit that.
