Here is goes again, National Public Radio is trying to paint President Obama as being soft on gun control, offering this passage in a story from this past weekend:
"Six months after Jared Loughner fired a fusillade of shots into a crowd of people in Tucson, Ariz., gun control advocates are asking why there has been no change to the policies that let him buy and carry a semi-automatic weapon without a permit."
And yet, the same article quotes Rep. Carolyn McCarthy (D-N.Y.), as saying:
"I have spoken to the president. He is with me on it, and it's just going to be when that opportunity comes forward that we're going to be able to go forward."
This very statement seems to directly contrast the headline that says, "Gun Control Advocates Chide Obama for Inaction." The truth is that this is all carefully planned smoke and mirrors. It is designed so that that gun control groups "chide" the POTUS, the media reports it and the readers BELIEVE this to be true. This is after all, the same president who earlier this year said to Sarah Brady that he is working on gun control, but "under the radar."
Thus this smoke screen is here to suggest that to voters and the average American citizen that Obama is anti-gun control. Thus if he does anything, the media can say this is an about face. The truth is that President Obama has always been anti-gun and pro-gun control.
But this smoke screen is meant to put gun owners at risk. So we say, don't be fooled.
