Won't be giving the NRA any more $$

If this is all they can come up with, we're in deep doo-doo. That won't win anyone over with this commercial and the Democratic Machine will chew them up like a wood chipper. Who's running the show there, a bunch of 18 year olds? They need to get professional and start presenting the public with hard facts, not childish BS

stop being such a Benedict Arnold, no one in their right mind, buys that line you're throwing out now. The NRA has the House locked up and most likely the senate too, and the assault weapon ban WON'T PASS because of their lobbying power and effort. You're either a plant, or a very ill-informed person.

2 posts , and you come in bashing the NRA ?

    give me a break

I agree the guy is in left field and just sent the NRA an additional 100 bucks after the NY law passed in addition to the 100 I sent as soon as my CT REPUBLICAN State legislatures began caving.

That said that add is stupid IMO. Of course the Presidents kid's are more important but only because of the Nation Security risk from kidnapping and them likely being a terrorist target.

That add does not help the cause IMO

While I think Wayne stepped on his crank when suggesting a national program of armed guards in schools, that and this video would not cause me to stop funding the NRA were I so inclined.

Every organization does silly things at times.

If you believe in their mission as pursued over the past 40 years, don't let something like this turn you away.

If you, like me, do not support what they have done over the past 40 years there is nothing they have done over the past couple of weeks that would improve or detract from that perception.

I've never been a big fan of the NRA but I do give them money when times like this arise. Especially now, there's nobody else to turn too; these days, the Republicans are basically acting like scared little mice

I am a life member of both the GOA and the SAF, and sent them each a couple hundred dollars this past week. The SAF (2nd Amendment Foundation) is very active in pursuing court challenges to laws across the country and will, I would think, be the first major group to take a case challenging the New York statues that have been put in place.

The GOA and the Cato Institute were the driving force behind pushing Heller, and also participated in McDonald, later derailed by the NRA. Take a look at their websites. IMO, your money is well spent with the GOA and the SAF. Cato is more a Libertarian think-tank, and is not focused on the 2nd Amendment like the other two.

There are other places to go, hopefully one aligns with your positions and philosophy.

I didn't notice anyone else mentioning it, so I will ... what in the commercial was untrue. [?]

Sometimes I am surprised by the amount of so called "assault" weapons that are owned by civilian's in California. Then I remember that when the riots occurred in their state, not that many people had what they needed to protect themselves ..... and for some reason the bad guys had weapons to shoot at the police and firemen.

After the initial rioting, there was a waiting list for people to pick up the firearms that they bought, and I'm not sure but I don't remember a lot of riot's making the news in California after that.

The need for high cap magazines, and certain rifles is only necessary when the other side has them to use against you. That "other" side isn't clearly defined ...... but there definitely is an other side that is a threat to public safety.

The county I live in has a Sheriff's Deputy in every school, has for years. Why is it not possible everywhere? This BS about having to hire thousands of new officers is just that, BS. What makes anyone think every officer is busy every day? They can spare one man or woman on a rotating basis to be in a school 5 days a week.
Counties and States raise taxes any time they want to build themselves a new office building, or playground, etc. We just got a new library, and several parks, one with a pool, and a newly renovated former WalMart building for Social Services, a lot of which is to handle illegals' benefits. Another penny for school protection should not be a problem. Creating a multi-billion dollar agency to register lawful gun owners is a better option?

    Again I say BS.

You would do well to read the stickey at the top of this forum. The NRA does NOT represent my views.
Some will die in hot pursuit
    And fiery auto crashes
Some will die in hot pursuit
    While sifting through my ashes
Some will fall in love with life
And drink it from a fountain
That is pouring like an avalanche
    Coming down the mountain

Well I'm new to this forum but not new to the NRA. Benefactor Member and member for 40 yrs. Golden Eagle Member. I have given a lot to help keep our 2nd Amendments rights and with that I agree that was a bs add and we all deserve a better response than that. I sent that very message right after the add appeared. Too bad Chuck Heston passed on as we need a figure like him to take on Barry and Hollywood.

Yes, you can criticize the NRA. But do they do good? Yes, they do a lot of good for gun owners. According to O'Reilly the other night the anti-gun people gave very little money to congressional candidates last year (he said about $3000 is all, total). But the NRA as I recall it was like around 20 million.

The only reason we're able to have what we have now is the Republican Congress. Just think would what have already happened if congress was controlled by the Democrats, like in New York.

I really feel awful for New Yorkers, some good people in NY. And yet now they have to get rid of any of the guns on the assault weapons list and get rid of any magazines over 7 rounds, or they are suddenly criminals.

I will always support the NRA because they fight for my rights. I also support many other gun organizations nation wide. Yes, you can point out their faults and short-comings, but make no mistake, they're on our side.

I guess I HAVE A simple mind. I thought the advertisement made perfect sense. A simple mind helps me sleep at night. A shot of Black Jack doesn't hurt.

Don't give up on old Wayne and the gang just yet. We have to stick together. The NRA doesn't have all of the answers. There are other groups out there working on this. Also, the Ruger Arms website has some great links to write your Federal, State and Local Politicians. Let's keep the pressure up, together. It's going to be a long 4 years.

I would never give up but I feel we need to play their game. Find a celeb and promote ownership. Attack adds remind me of the elections and we all know how that turned out.

I stopped supporting the NRA financially and as a recruiter when they pulled out all the stops to keep Heller v. DC from making it to SCOTUS.
I used to recruit for the NRA until they sold us down the river (again!) in Heller v. DC. See my auctions (if any) under username henryreilly
