The numbers don't lie. This is from the Texas Department of Public Safety web site.
Using 2008 and 2011 statics there has been an almost 30% increase in convictions of Concealed Handgun License holders while overall convictions had decreased over 1400.
How can you account for this increase?

What was the increase in the number of CC License holders over that time frame?
Are there any laws that apply specifically to carrying?
Can't carry in a bar or church, for example.
Who manipulated the figures? No doubt there would be a different set of statistics if the numbers were run by the Brady Bunch than by the GOA, for example.
Lastly, it is Texas. Things are just different there.

If you want to use statics in an argument you are lying.
The numbers are completely accurate:
2008 there were 86 convictions in Texas of CHL holders of the 65084 total convictions.
2011 there were 120 convictions in Texas of CHL holders of the 63679 total convictions.
While the number of CHL holders increased from 314574 in 2008 to 518625 in 2011.
And these reposts are only for convictions over the age of 21. These include ALL convictions not just firearm related. Also I have been unable to find any numbers for 18~21 of juveniles.
Even these numbers are skewed since the age for a CHL is 21. These were reported to the licensing agency.
Numbers mean nothing in the "GUN CONTROL" debate since there in no agreed standard for data collection. Even the FBI site only breaks it down by type (handgun, rifle, shotgun, etc). And these are what is reported from the states, the FBI states (2012) does not include Florida or Illinois due to limited or did not meet the guidelines. Point being the data is collected by the individual States and reported to the FBI. You run State data thru a federal filter and what do you get?
How does this handle plea bargains, juvenile crime, legally owned firearms?
Who collects the data on crime stopped by a firearm? How many children were protected by a gun?
NOBODY as far as I can tell even considers this data. How much is simply buried in police reports?

Apparently the percentage of convictions of CHL holders in Texas declined from .027% in 2008 to .023% in 2011, both figures approximately 10% of the conviction rate of the public at large.
Results of survey: Give every person a CHL, and crime will drop by a factor of 10.[:)]

Way too much of these type of stats flash across the "drive-by" media and may influence options.
thus the non CHL citizens were committed and convicted of 99.8116%
of the total.
Texas CHL requires a back ground check, finger prints, photo and class covering laws, responsibility and conflict resolution, and hand gun proficiency. there are now more than 500,000 of us and the number is growing.
