Instead, they are now in the crosshairs of the gun control lobby. With the VA's existing massive information sharing with NICS, we already have a precedent for large-scale revocation of veteran's rights. All it takes is for one of Eric Holder's decrees to include PTSD, and suddenly one of the most passionate, patriotic segments of Americans will be labeled a danger to society.

Truly a double edged sword.

If we are going to have these laws on the books, someone diagnosed with a debilitating mental condition who is part of a group with abnormally high suicide rates would be a group that should be protected against itself.

I don't support this, but we have already had at least one case where a PTSD vet shot and killed someone who was attempting to help him via a trip to the range.

Also, if the Feinsteins of world are looking to disarm a segment of the population that poses the greatest risk to an over-reaching government, it would make sense to target a group that has seen first hand what is effective against the U.S. military in an insurgency operation.

Lastly, and I am in no position to know the breakdown, if some of these PTSD diagnoses were done at the request of the individual with the goal being a disability claim, these actions may dissuade some of the truly in need from applying. On the flip side, it may also dissuade some of the those that are playing the system as well.

As noted, I do not support these types of laws in the first place, and believe that the NICS system, background checks, and the entire FFL infrastructure itself should be scrapped. Many here, however, support this 2nd Amendment infringement, and if you support it, I do not see why we veterans should be treated any differently than anyone else.
