2 questions regarding mini-14 barel shroud

1. Is a barel shroud considered an "assault weapon" component? (Not a flash suppressor)2. The barel of my mini-14 gets extremely hot after only a few consecutive rounds. Is it worth the $60 or so to buy a barel shroud for heat disipation and to prevent me from getting burned?Thanks all.

    Some politicans will already describe your mini as an assualt weapon as they weave their webs against guns. A device to keep your hands cool won't change a thing- go ahead. You can assault anyone with any weapon- does that make all weapons- assault weapons? Mostly described guns are assault weapons if they have large capacity magazines..! "Thats all Folks"
