As a US citizen - I can, and did, take the Possession Acquistion Certification class this weekend at my cousins in BC. He is a firearms trainer and authorized to give these Goverment tests. I have to wait for the paperwork to go from Victoria to Ottowa and back to me in the States. These licenses give you the right to "purchase" Restricted and Non-restricted firearms in Canada. So you say - "But BlueTic, what good is this if you cannot import?" I do not import, bringing in this country FOR SALE. I might buy a rifle and bring it home. It is my personal possession. As long as it is not a restricted weapon on the BATFs list, I am just taking home my personal rifle/shotgun/ or pistol. I have to register the weapon when purchased, which places it in my name with the Government of Canada. If I buy any restricted weapons (handguns) then I still need to get a ATT (Authorization to Transport) which may take a week or so, then I am able to transport to the border in a certain time frame. What I am looking for here is - do any of you have personal experience of buying a firearm in another country - while on a trip/not through the mail?
