What was the anti-gun "SULLIVAN ACT" years ago, and is it still in effect?

The "Sullivan Act" as I read it has nothing to do with guns, It was brought about because there were 5 brothers on the same ship, that went down with all hands on board, therefore leaving no male member to carry on the family name. The act was designed to prevent siblings being in a combat situation, insuring maybe there would be someone to carry on the Family name. Incendently the 5 brothers were Named Sullivan, Therefore the Sullivan Act

I believe the Sullivan Act was enacted in NYC in the 1920's or 1930's to ban hand guns. If I'm wrong please correct me.

BADBOYBOB- You are correct. The sullivan act was enacted by mayor Sullivan of NYC. It virtually strips the citizens of NYC of the ability to carry handguns(unless you are friendly with the city administration)
