"Thomas had only been out of jail for a month after serving a ten year sentence."

THIS is what you call lax Crime/Criminal laws......
THIS is why we have violent crime!
KNIVES don't cause/commit crimes; Firearms do NOT cause/commit crimes...... Criminals DO!

BG used a KNIFE
and STABBED his victim...... , but I guess the anti gun crowd doesn't
see this as a violent crime because.... weeeeellll, a gun didn't
commit the crime, a knife did!

MARTA Hero

(WSB Radio) Marta Police are calling an Atlanta man a hero for
capturing a man accused of stabbing and then stealing the purse of a
passenger.

Steve Miles told reporters today he heard the screams of Simona Edery
coming from the Peachtree Center Marta Station and then saw suspect
Deron Henry Thomas running from the scene. Miles asked Thomas what he
was doing and then gave chase when Thomas took off.

Miles says he chased Thomas through traffic on Peachtree Street and
tackled him when Thomas slipped. He says Thomas was still clutching
Edery's purse.

It was then Miles says he saw the Duluth woman across the street
asking for help. She'd been stabbed in the neck. Edery was taken to
Grady Hospital and is listed in serious but stable condition.

Marta Police Chief Gene Wilson says Thomas had only been out of jail
for a month after serving a ten year sentence. He's charged with two
felony counts of aggravated assault and armed robbery.

Ironically, Miles, a 20-year Marine Corps veteran, is applying to
become an Atlanta police officer.
