    lot's of real good one-liners there that a person could use to get in a quick lick in favor of gun ownership freedom. Thanks for posting.

    This one leaves a sour taste in my mouth.I didn't like it when I first saw it..and I don't today.The NRA,bless their little compromising heads,are responsible for a whole host of new judges ..and innocent people setting in jail today,because of this pure B.S....

    I think that the "enforce existing laws" statement is pretty accurate and not really about the NRA guys. I mean hell, we have over 10,000 laws..lets enforce them all if necessary.If thats what it takes to keep what we have and quit giving the anti's more reason to raise hell.And besides, aside from some bad P.R. over that little "jack booted thugs" thing and bending to much at times,they are still one DAMN strong lobby that does more to keep all of our gun rights than any other lobby.And tell me honestly, after the fiasco's in Waco and Ruby Ridge, who did't think they were acting like thugs.Ole' Lon Horiuchi shot Vicki Weaver holding an infant in her arms...Kinda makes me sick when I think about Agents(sic) getting by with trampling on our rights.I would bet that settlement the feds made with Randy Weaver don't replace that little girl's mom either.[B)]

    If necessary? Herea a better idea-Rather than worrying about "what is necessary" why dont we require the government to adhere to the constitution? Federal gun laws are unconstitutional, PERIOD! I just assume we do not allow the government to enact unconstitutional laws because notwithstanding the constitution, those laws are deemed "necessary" by a few.

    The NRA does more good than harm IMHO. If that is true, then any pro or con NRA argument is only about the degree of "good" that is done by the NRA. The statement about enforcing existing laws is just another way of saying we don't need anymore damn gun control laws. There are more than enough to do whatever good, real or imagined, that society wants to accomplish.

    Getting the Government to adhere to the constitution would be the best and right step. Getting the government to stop making more and more unnecessary gun control laws would be a step in the right direction.

    Well,Tr;

    A choice between enforcing the existing gun laws..all unConstitutional..or stepping back and allowing them to completely ban guns ?...

    I prefer stepping back,out of the political arena,myself.

    One must make a choice.Allow freedoms to be abridged,a little at a time,dying a slow death...or take a chance that there are enough men,Americans,left to take this country back for freedom..in the event of a sweeping ban.

    Bring on the ban !!!

    Give me freedom..or give me death !!!

    I will begun to respect your NRA when the President of NRA holds up a "Black Rifle" over his head and says..."From My Cold Dead Hands.."...because at that time it would indicate to me that SOMEONE in the orginazation recognizes what the Second Amendment is all about...

    Highball: as long as I have room and enough freedom to manuver, I will accept your description of a"slow death" in the hopes things can be changed peaceably for the better. At present I prefer this action over the only alternative I can see which is that of a "quick death" at the hands of the alphabet teams.

    In regards to your wanting the president of the NRA to holdup a black rifle and shout "from my cold dead hands" before you will support the NRA, when has ANY progun group leader brandished a black rifle before the press? I myself believe a lot in the term "finesse". Charlton Heston got his basic message across at the NRA rally in KC by holding up the flintlock rifle and stating "from my cold dead hands." Had he used a black rifle, he would have given the media ammunication in which to negativiely report on Heston's actions. And by using the less controversial flintlock, while getting his message out, he did not startle the pro-gun supporters that don't have an interest or support for military type firearms inthe hands of civilians.

    Salzo, I agree the government should be held accountable etc. But I am sure that realistically all we can hope for is limit the decline of legal ownership. I hate to sound pessimistic and I am definately not trying to be argumenative, but, If the government would simply enforce exsisting laws then they WOULD in fact be without cause to add more. And there could and would never be an methodology that would allow us as voters to make them stay the course regarding constintutionality.

    STAY the course????????WHEN did they do that?They haven't yet and to think that they will is ridiculous....They havent stopped walkin all over the Constutution since lincoln...and won't....the good ole boys club will nOT allow that to happen.Period.Keep voting down the 2 party lines.....and we will all see just how far they will get....don't look good to me,SIGH.....Just my 2 cents....L.H.

    TR;

    I will accept your decision..because I believe you are a good man.Honest differences of opinion between honest men.

    However..I cannot support any more money to the NRA...no more begging politicians to obey the Constitution..no more blind loyalty to corrupt men.

    I will continue to obey the law.

    One day that law will become so opressive that good men will indeed be forced to look at their hole card..and play what they have,or fold 'em.....

    gentlemen, I do agree with you both on the issues regarding the governments chioce to opress us through laws. I also respect your right to choose whether or not to support the NRA or not. I am just throwing my 2 cents regarding this issue. I still vote even though most politicians are all the same.. regardless of party affiliation. But I feel that we have an obligation as citizens to excercise our right and choose the best scumbag for the job. Hell if we don't vote and try at least, all those on the other side will damn well vote and win in the end. I am not sure that some people truly understand how dedicated our political enemies are. They vote and support their grassroots effort wholeheartedly. Plus they put their money where their mouths are. That is a reason why I do still continue to pay off politicians via the NRA. But this system we have operates this way and we can either play the game or sit on the sidelines and ignore it all while our enemies advance their agendas and in the end......win. Just a thought guys, I thoroughly enjoy hearing your thoughts. Even if we can't all agree on everthing(thats what makes us independent thinkers) I think it does good to look at other points of view. When you stop improving you stop period...as the quote says. [;)]

    Highball.. I agree that we should learn pertinent information and skills. I pass them on to my children also. I aquire things that will be pertinent if the time comes also. But I don't think it will be our fight. Maybe my children will see it(4 1/5 & 6). I gave your statements alot of thought also. I agree with you on most your points too. Actually I guess where we disagree is fudamentally our choices in participation with voting and legalized bribery. There is NO doubt whatsoever this system is a train wreck and will never get fixed either. Too many Teddy Kennedy's entrenched in the system and, regardless of what he says about reform, refuses to change a system that is structered to make politicians very wealthy. Makes me sick when i see them with almost teary eyed descibing their pain when seeing sick children and the need for low income health care reform or broke retiree's and how bad they need better health care, but NEVER change the system for real.I guess I am too young and naieve' to stop trying to slow the process through donations and voting. I defiantely agree with your statements and I realize they are true. But, I just can't bring myself to quit trying yet. Maybe someday huh??[B)]

    Wonderful,truly American viewpoint you have.
    There are a few here on GB that are the absolute salt of the earth...God bless them all.

    Teaching the young..what MUSIC to my ears !!!

    Please aquire " Atlas Shrugged "..Ann Raynd..and take a crack at reading it. I am not bitter over the loss of freedom in this country..because I recognize that it is inevitable.However,I will not allow our masters to gloat over using my support to destroy it,either.

    Pay my taxes..? You bet.The scum have a MP-5 pressed to my ear,making certain I do..but they as of yet cannot compell me to vote for some corrupt sleezebag..so I shall not do so....

    TR;
    I never mind disagreeing with an honorable man.At some point,the truth will out..and most likely it will be somewhere between our two positions...and we agree on far more then we disagree on...

    God,Guts,& GunsHave we lost all 3 ??

    According to the anti gunners, the first 100 guns laws were not enough, we needed more.
    The next 1000 were not either.
    The next 1000,
    and the next,
    and the next,
    and the next,
    and the next,
    and the next,
    and the next,
    and the next,
    and the next,
    Now there are more than 20,000 gun laws nationally.
    How many totally unconstitutional gun laws do we need?
    10 laws did not work, neither will 20,000---500,000 or a million.
    Criminals DO NOT OBEY THE LAW.
    Gun laws are NOT about criminals.
    Gun laws are used to enslave the "law abiding" people.
    There are those that will not stop, until we have a total gun ban.
    Where only the criminals will have guns.

    Highball....I am checking on getting Atlas Shrugged on ebay and I will give it a read when I get it.By the way,has anybody read Unintended Consequences by John Ross? I read it when it came out several years ago.Seems like several people in here would enjoy it quite a bit.

    Good show.

    "Unintended" has been discussed often on GB....Many find it very interesting.
    Naturally.....[:(]I find fault with it.[:D]

    I believe it is somewhat elitest..directed towards the "selectfires" amoung us.Those who feel a powerful surge of "class" because they chose to get on their knees before the Beast and beg for their non-existant "Rights".

    Anyway..the end result was to protect this "protected" class..and P*** on the unwashed masses...
