Question About Crime Rate

I believe I have read somewhere that of all firearms related crimes, 93% of the guns used are illegally owned. Does somebody have a link for this information? I'm writing a paper on the subject and I need to clearly cite my references.

    Check out the book by John Lott. Lots of research done on that one. You might also check with the NRA, and you might inquire of your local pd, sheriff, and state police units.
