CPHV is an HCI "educational" spin-off, which portrays firearms and their ownership as inherently dangerous.

The following sections give the claims of HCI, to be helping in the prevention of ?Gun Crimes,? through CPHV [rf].

The Center?s Research department provides ongoing analysis of the public health data that shapes these programs, as well as groundbreaking studies of crime data that demonstrate that gun laws work.

The Legal Action Project:
http://www.gunlawsuits.com

Since 1989, the Legal Action Project has made sure gun violence victims have their day in court. LAP?s attorneys provide free legal representation for victims in lawsuits against reckless gun manufacturers, dealers and owners. The LAP now represents more than twenty cities and counties who are suing the gun industry to force them to make and distribute their products more responsibly, and is widely acknowledged as the most powerful legal adversary of the American gun industry.

The Law Enforcement Relations: ???????????
http://www.handguncontrol.org/ler/index.asp

The Law Enforcement Relations Department works with law enforcement throughout the country, implementing programs to reduce gun violence in schools and communities. LER also develops strategies to interdict guns and reduce the number of illegal guns on the street. LER also works to pass federal and state legislation to reduce gun violence.

Straight Talk About Risks: ????
http://www.cphv.org/star.html

S.T.A.R., CPHV?s politically-based Anti-Gun curriculum, targets schoolchildren, aged, pre-K through - 12th grade.

Steps to Prevent Firearm Injury: ???
http://www.cphv.org/stop.html
?
Steps to Prevent Firearm Injury (STOP) is a firearm prevention-counseling program designed specifically for pediatricians and pediatric health care providers. This program is a joint project of the American Academy of Pediatrics and the Center, launched in 1994, and revised in 1996.

Steps To Prevent Firearm Injury In The Home: ????????????????
http://www.cphv.org/stop2.html

Launched in June of 1998 by Secretary of Health and Human Services, Dr. Donna Shalala, Steps To Prevent Firearm Injury In The Home (STOP 2) is a counseling tool designed for all health care providers from a wide range of disciplines (nurses, social workers, psychologists, health educators, counselors, etc.) who work with diverse populations.

The STOP 2 program prepares health care providers to talk with patients/clients and their families about the risks of a gun in the home as part of their routine injury prevention counseling.

Project Lifeline:
http://www.cphv.org/lifeline.html

ProjectLifeline is a program of the Center to Prevent Handgun Violence and is co-sponsored by two national organizations of health professionals working to prevent gun violence: the Handgun Epidemic Lowering Plan (HELP) Network and Physicians for Social Responsibility.

We were all fairly certain it would only be a matter of time before the public began to see through all the emotion and rhetoric of the Million Mom group, and see them for what they really are. Apparently that time has come.

Just to clarify, GEICO Insurance does not hold any "official" anti-gun stance. They got on the NRA list because of a newsletter they issued to their clients several years ago that quoted a statistic about firearms owners having a higher incidence of accidental death. GEICO has released statements that they have no stance on firearm ownership, pro or con.

I decided to drop GEICO anyway about a year ago for my car insurance in favor of AIG Insurance, because AIG actually has a NRA Member Discount. I contacted AIG a few months ago to check on my policy and found that they had not actually enrolled me in the NRA Discount Program. When I finally called the right number and talked to their NRA Accounts Rep he quoted me premiums that WERE HALF OF WHAT I WAS PAYING BEFORE. It really is a great deal, but you have to be sure to call the right phone number and be sure you are talking with the NRA Accounts Rep.

Also, for long distance I recommend MARATHON USA. They give you the option to donate a portion of your long distance bill to several pro-gun organizations of your choice. I think they have pretty competitive pricing. I don't make many long distance calls, so my bill is never more than a few dollars each month. My donation goes to the NRA Foundation.

I don't know about the whole Geico thing, but I know that the NRA has said more in favor of gun control than that. Just look at their support for project exile.

I know of media companies anti-gun leanings, and no longer go to movies, buy music, or buy newspapers. I will boycott those on the list.
