California Anti-Gun Measure Heads to Governor Schwarzenegger's Desk!

A final concurrence vote took place this week on Assembly Bill 996. Amended by the Senate in July, AB 996 would require all retailers to display and sell ammunition in a manner that is only accessible by an employee, not the purchaser. Any violation of this measure would result in a misdemeanor. This anti-gun bill now heads to the governor's desk. Please contact Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger (R) and ask him to oppose anti-gun measure AB 996.

As predicted, Assembly Bill 352 was taken off the inactive list on Wednesday, August 31. The Senate could vote on this anti-gun measure as early as today. If AB 352 passes the Senate, it must return to the Assembly Floor for a final vote.

AB 352 expands the definition of "unsafe handguns" to include semi-automatic pistols that are not designed and equipped with an array of microscopic characters which identify the make, model, and serial number of the pistol by imprinting the characters on each cartridge case when the firearm is discharged. This legislation could essentially ban all semi-automatic pistols commonly used by California gun owners.

Boycott Kalifornistan. Maybe that will be enough to start the Exodus.

Those who would offer any interpretation that would relegate Amendment II to "relic" status of a bygone era are blatantly stating that the remainder of the Bill of Rights isn't worth a damn, either.

The exodus has already been underway for years. As most of you know, I moved to Nevada last year from Kalifornia. I went from being one of only three conservatives at my workplace in the Bay Area to being the ONLY conservative at my workplace in Carson City.

Of course, 60% of my co-workers are Kalifornia transplants. Unfortunately they did not come here for political freedom, they just came here for cheap housing. A few are old hippies from the days in the 60s and 70s when Viriginia City was a haven for their kind. The Kalifornians infiltrating this state are not leaving their politics at the state line.

My wife and I are actually considering a move to Idaho, but I don't know if it is any better there.

But the laws are different for you, correct, WW?

From a certain point of view, just because you are the only one who believes the way you do doesn't necessarily make you wrong, you know. Lots of ignorant and stupid people out there, and just because majority rules doesn't mean they have some influence over you.

Yes, you are right gunphreak. The laws are much better here, I can take a gun home the same day that I buy it (no 10-day period like CA) and I can buy hi-cap mags. Nevada is also a shall-issue CCW state, where it would have been impossible for me to get a CCW in CA.

But I am very concerned with the direction that Nevada is headed in. Nevada was very nearly a blue state in the last election. In the end, every county went for Bush except Clark County (Las Vegas). It is just an unending onslaught. When you have a state of 35 million invading a state of only 2-3 million, there is just no chance.

But yes, my standard of living is definately better than it was in Kalifornia, at least for now.

Yeah, you and me, both, WW.

On an upnote, I understand Kalifornistan is in the process of trying to legalize gay marriages.

Those who would go to Ka, just for that premise, vote how, exactly?

And remember, full faith and credit does not have to work when a state specifically denies it in its own law. There's a whole lot of those types of states, although I believe Nevada, with its two Sin Cities, aren't about to cut their legs off at the knees to be one of them.

In my experience, the clipped-hair rainbow flag types are more likely to vote for the Green Party (most of them are into that witch's coven stuff, Wicca/Naturism, or whatever). Maybe those are more specific to the Bay Area, I dunno. There are still quite a few of those around out here in Northern Nevada too, and I don't mean just in downtown Reno either. We get a lot of them out in the rural areas (usually women, not so many men). Guess they try to be tough frontier types and then the natural progression is to become a lesbian. There are a lot of weird folks that move out here because they like the idea of a Libertarian, "anything goes", type state. I really don't know how that is skewing the politics, I've met gays that are radical left (Green), Liberal (Democrat), and even Conservative (Republican). Go figure. I would say most of the gays are pretty benign because they try to keep a low profile (except when the out-of-towners come in to stir things up with their "PRIDE" parade in Reno every year).

I don't mind the Libertarian types coming to Nevada, they usually have a "live and let live" attitude and are pretty respectful. It is the Liberal Soccer Mom types with their whipped male counterparts that are ruining the state. They bring their activist mentality to this state and start shouting about closing brothels and banning guns.

The way I figure is that I am still a guest in this state, since I've only been here a year. I knew what I was getting into when I moved here, there is a casino half a mile down the road, a brother about 2 miles beyond that, and my neighbor shot my house from across the street last week. But hey, I still love living here, and even if I didn't then I wouldn't start shouting about how everyone needs to change to accomodate me. I figure maybe in about 10 years when I got kids in the local schools and such then maybe I will have the right to stand up and speak my mind about my community, but for now I am still just figuring things out. I just wish the other Kalifornians would be more respectful of the way things have been done here for decades instead of trying to spew the same old sewage that ruined the Golden State.

Well, I guess around here, gays abhor conservatives. (Probably because this was one of those 'Defense of Marriage' states)

Don't let the left coast set the pace.
    Haven't you guys learned
yet, Stupid is as stupid gets .
You can't stay home and not vote , that crap
for brains liberal next door to you will vote
for the nit-wit every time , all they vote for is
a big D after the name. You need to vote to
cancel out his vote. GWB like his father may
not be exactly what we would like but look
at what else is offered . ( Clintons , JFKerry ) . The DemocRATS don't care what kind of s*#t
head they put in office only that they get
    the power back.
They have been in power for the better part
of 40 years. Thats 1964, before most of you were born.
Let me tell you about that time .
A kid was able to buy a gun without his parents , you could buy dynamite at the hardware store. You could have fireworks .
It took them about 4 years ,1968 to stop all that good stuff from happening. Its been all down hill from that time till now.
The youth of the day were responsible gun owners . A 15 year olds pride and joy was his rifle on the wall over his bed. The girl next door who liked boys. The hot rod in the driveway. It was a day when cats were an endangered species . It was a day when your mom could shoot better than you could.
The only way to get it back is to grow up and vote
smart , run for office and make changes.
Write your reps. , make noise
it's the squeaky wheel that get greased .

Don't get me wrong, shootsright. I do participate and vote in every election. I am still a registered Republican, as I have been since I was 18, although I think I have moved right of the party. I consider myself a Michael Savage conservative. The only reasons I stay in the Republican Party is because I do think we live in an inherently two party political system, and I am certainly not going to affiliate with the other party. And the other reason I stay is because of the occassional good Republicans I see, like Tom Tancredo, and Joe Wegner here in Nevada. They rarely get the votes they need, but I try to support them when I can.

I know that my Republican vote at least counted in the 2004, since Nevada was considered a swing state. Every presidential election I voted for in Kalifornia was a wasted vote since that state is beyond blue.

Lived in Phoenix, moved to Reno, Moved back to Phoenix. Too much new "blue". The community has to set the newcomers straight, basically a "sit down & shut up" mentality. Either that or "Welcome to Nevada [or Arizona, Texas, etc.], now go the f*#% home."

In ole AZ we are welcoming 120,000 new people every year. Most are coming from Kalifornia and I can feel their presence all around me. I swore I'd die before moving to Texas, but.... No offense to Texans but I really hate the Cowboys. OK, I'll shut up now and go to my room.

I feel it too, Comengetit. I was fourth generation Kalifornian and then moved to Carson City last year to escape that mess. I was hoping to find others like me, and there are a few, but the Blue Wave is spilling over the Sierra Nevadas like a 10,000-foot tsunami.

Most of the Nevadans are moving to Idaho, but I'm afraid they may find more of the same there. I understand that Idaho has become a playground for the Hollywood-types over the past few years. The only hope that I can cling to is the inept and self-destructive nature of the Liberal. They spend so much time complaining and screaming about nonsense that they never make any preparations for their own survival. I can only hope that when the next natural or un-natural disaster comes, and the Libs can't get their drive-thru lattes and all-you-can-eat sushi, then maybe Natural Selection will take care of the problem. In the meantime, I spend my sushi and latte money on rations and ammo instead.

It's time for you to come to Tennessee. We are a very gun friendly state. They can't even get legislation to Nashville without it being stopped. I moved here 10 years ago and am still happy to be here. I feel sorry for all you in NY and CA. It's ashame.

Damn skippy! It's not only a shame, it's a mockery of our Constitution. They might as well piss on it. We need to systematically round up all politicians, yes all of them, put them in a fenced in North Dakota and drop guns and drugs to them by plane once a month. Hell, let's put up TV cameras and we can really watch reality TV. Guaranteed they would turn into the worst form of humanity within three months, wait...they already are the lowest form of humanity. OK, so they could get worse. No offense to North Dakota!
