Blame the victims ?

HighballHighball Member Posts: 15,755
Well..that is what many will call it...me even mentioning this subject.
The point is..a gun is merely a tool, and the driving force BEHIND that tool is the human brain. Lacking the tool..one OUGHT to do what you can to stay alive, I would think...and if taking a bullet in the chest trying a head-on charge is the result..I would think it better then a bullet to the back of the head....

See..I was struck by the repeated announcements that the shooter 'chained the doors'. preventing the police from getting to him..as he strolled about shooting people.
Over and over again I have heard of multiply shootings with the same theme..the shooter casually walks about killing people.
A number of years back, a shooter put seven people on their faces in a steakhouse..then casually shot each in the back of the head. Not one finger of resistance.

We as a people have been deballed to the point that we will NOT fight back..even as people die around us...and our turn is next.

The ONLY time we can kill is when the government puts a rifle in our hand and points out the bad guys to us....then its okay.

A rat will fight if cornered. We as a people have lost that basic will to live..we crawl under a desk to try and escape...KNOWING our turn is next.

We as a people have failed our children..AND our Society..by allowing the pukes in the government and media to train us to "Wait on the Police"....

They may have failed, but I hold a more powerful version of what the gunman in VT used, and I would have no problem shooting him, even in the back if he was shooting at innocent people. You have to do what you have to do.

Too bad you couldn't have done that,...........no guns on campus! That wasn't even Highballs point, it was the missing "survival instinct", even without a gun in your hand.
"Die on your feet, or on your knees",..........we are being programmed to die on our knees begging for our lives, which only guarantees your death. These freaks thrive on the sense of power that they have never had in their pathetic lives, and enjoy watching people "grovel".

We live in strange times that get stranger everyday. De-balled is a good term for what is happening. We now have generations who have been raised by watching television, generations who covet superficial pieces of junk like cell-phones, I-pods, Plasma TV's and Video game systems that cost as much as a Springfield rifle. Most Americans live in a fantasy world where they actually believe that the Police, FEMA, or even Spider-Man is going to come and rescue them just in the nick of time. I believe this Fantasy world mentality may have contributed to these poor kids failure to fight back.

It will take a long time to change mentality, if ever, in this country with the parents that we have. Many are good,.....but many more are bad, and they are dragging all others down to the lowest common denominator. Sad part is the good ones are allowing it.

What is even more sad, this will pass too. People will grumble, yet no one is ready to take action. We see what IS happening, but people treat life like a movie. They act as if there is nothing to do. People have forgotton or at least are unwilling to organize. Well, maybe not the wacko lefties, but the people that matter won't organize and TAKE this country back (even by force if necissary). What will finally be te straw that breaks the camels back? We KNOW one thing for sure, this tragidy WILL be used by the socialist left to push their adgenda, thats for sure.

And more to highball's point, your right, WAY too many people are gutless. They don't have the balls to save their own lives when faced with a real life threating situation. If all they can do is beg, and are unwilling to fight for what is there's, what else can they expect? Certain actions will result in certain reactions.

Hey Freemind,.......I am actually starting to become impressed with some of your posts. Watch it, or you might become like me,........too much to worry about,......people that can't be changed, people that have the thought processes of a snail. You will start to waste your life waging a battle of words that doesn't seem able to be won. Or we could all simply live our lives by our own principles, without kneeling down, and accept the consequences that will come,..........or should I say at the least the "hardship", compared to the cushy lives that we all have now in this country.
It all cannot go on this way forever.[:(]

Mark, I allready live my life as upright as I know how. I will not bow, I will not waiver in my principles. I refuse to become a WILLING victim. Hardship is a mindset. While most see life as cushy, FREEDOM is more important than material gadgets. So in some sense , yes, I am in a hardship. But so is everyone else, just most are too stupid and lazy to realize that. Even if the minions won't listen, there will be enough (hopefully sooner, rather than later)who WILL listen and ACT. I will be there and I won't comprimise, bargin, or listen to foolishness. The price will be paid . It must be paid. Those accountable MUST be held accountable.

BUT you know we are just those constitutional CRAZIES![:)]

I have never been shot at directly, and I hope I never do. If it ever happens, I will however return fire because I never leave home without it !

There were probably many students in those class rooms that have never held a firearm before, therefore all they know is what they have seen on the large screen - what the bullet hits, the bullet destroys.

This is the changing of our society. Long ago, every member of the family was instructed how to use all firearms in their residence. They were tools just like the hammer. Nowadays, society has diverged from self sufficiency to dependency on others.

Last deer season I shot a small buck and had it hanging in my back yard. My daughters friend came over to check it out and was disgusted. I asked her if she eats meat like hambergers and steaks and if so, where does she get it from. She said "YES, my mom gets it at the store". I asked her where does the store get it. She said "I DON'T KNOW" I told her it comes from Cows. She did not believe me.
50 years ago, that little girl would have been turning the hand grinder has her mother put in meat from the cow that only yesterday was grazing in their back yard.

Those students never had a chance to defend themselves because we have become so dependent on the government taking care of us.

All excellent posts. I have given up on convincing. I find it is becoming far to hazardous to reveal my true attitudes in public. Therefore I will acquire arms and ammunition, improve my proficiency with them, and wait for the day when that skill may be required of me.

Until that day, I will outwardly become another mindless drone, performing whatever tasks are required to insure survival for myself and my family. I will keep as low of a profile as I can and not make myself a target.

I will still be a member of the NRA and GOA. GOA because it makes me feel good and NRA because I like to read the articles in American Rifleman. If my wife and I should be graced with children someday, then I will do all I can to enlighten them of the "Old Ways". But with the onslaught of the media, government, and academia upon our children, I doubt my attempt at "enlightenment" will outweigh their honed techniques of brainwashing.

These are dark times, my brethren.

I have turned at least a few liberals speechless by using the following words. 'Anybody who uses animal products or consumes animals is responsible for death and suffering of animals. We are ALL hunters. Some hunt in the wild. Others hunt in the meat department of the grocery store."

There is absolutely NOTHING they can say in rebuttal.

    Wounded Wolf;
I believe that you have it nicely. We are entering a time when expressing the ideas of freedom, as advanced by the Founders, is viewed as subversive...and I believe will result in intense government survailence and eventual disaster for those doing so.

One CAN continue to promote , say, the NRA position...whatever the government wants, we will figure a way to force it down the gun-owners throats..(Project Exile, say)..
However, for me, that is not possible at all.

When I say..'Convert somebody'..that is for people that that have not quite realized the late hour in which we live...and still believe that they can make a difference.
One still CAN educate people one to one. The Political end of things is over...hopelessly corrupt..and letters to the editor merely advance you higher on the government lists of 'subversives'....

    It is all about mindset.

Most have a flawed one, submissive one, or victim one.

Standing up for what you believe, defending self and others and the acknowledgment that there is an inherent duty to fight back when danger or death threatens, has been bred, stomped, extorted, conditioned and taught out of us. In todays America, we are supposed to rely on police protection.

The days of America, filled with large numbers of "rugged individualists" is gone.

It is what it is, period.

Our collective appraisal of civilization's progress over the centuries is far loftier and much more generous than the actual evolution of the human race has actually achieved to date or even deserves.

We (society) like to think that our fellow homo sapiens are all decent and respectful, well above this sort of heinous, bloodlusting behavior.

Ironically, had this killer been caught instead of having the opportunity to kill himself as he did, there would be the obligatory rush of lawyers to defend him at his trial and, assuming he was sentenced to die for his crimes, a plethora of weeping candle-carrying folks outside the prison protesting his impending death and capital punishment. All window trimming IMO.

For all our best intentions, we human beings are no more civilized now than the humans were at the time of Cain and Able - but we sure get off on thinking that we are. Our methods for administering punishment may have softened quite a bit over the centuries but abhorrent, reprehensible and unconscionable behavior literally abounds in this world.

It's a sad commentary that so many people will go so willingly to their death, believing that a cold-blooded, calloused killer(s) with absolutely no affect may have a sudden pang of conscience and ultimately spare him or her. Rather than fight back - to the death if necessary - we collectively squeeze our eyes shut and patiently wait for the bang! that ultimately and forever confirms our misplaced beliefs in humanity.

We have met the enemy and it is us. There's simply no other way to say it.

I myself have often given thought to the concept of what my "speech" may be setting me up for. What some of you have said may be VERY valid,.......none of us knows who is even watching boards like this. I really never thought of myself as a "subversive",......something to think about I guess.
To nyforester,......I totally agree with the statement you made, and have seen it myself. I used to hunt, but don't anymore,......mainly because of having my own business, and some to do with where I live. I have always been blown away by the thought process of some that are very anti-hunting, even if they are pro-gun, and what they blank out of their minds when they go to the store. In my opinion, the lives that most animals that are processed for our consumption go through far more torture, than any deer, or turkey that is hunted by a responsible hunter. I guess people think that hamburgers they pick up through Mc Donalds, must grow on some kind of neato tree or something. When you try and explain the flawed logic, they go away, because it is something that they do not want to hear. Many today are like the ostrich, with their heads in the sand, for the sake of "feeling good".

Being a cow-poke at this time in life I can tell you with ALL certainty that the steers we raise have a very, very good life. While there may be 1500 head around here, every one gets the look over and any need large or small gets attended to. I can NOT speak for all farms, however what we do is the norm for the majority of farms.
