50 cal ban

dan55362dan55362 Member Posts: 709 ✭✭✭✭
I was sitting at home one day reading articles on the Internet about a 50 cal ban proposed in Illinois, suddenly my son came home from school and began doing his homework. As I looked over at my son I noticed he was using one of those Texas sized pencils and I thought to myself what lowlife pencil pusher gave my son such a large pencil. So I asked him, he told me his teacher gave all the students one. Well I was shocked I couldn't believe the school would give such large pencil to kids. In this day in age we as a civilized country have no use for a pencil this big!!!! You should have seen this assault pencil it had to be 2.5 feet long, enough lead to outright a #2 pencil by at least 50'x, and can you believe the pencil was of all things tactical black. we need to join together and call our representatives to ban these large black tactical pencils before its to late, if we don't act quickly on this more of these pencils could be in the hands of our youth, and who knows the next thing may be a huge pen.

Those are not "tactical" pencils, they are "assault" pencils! They just look so horrible! I agree, we should ban those assault pencils for societies own good!

That is freaking hilarious. But on a more serious note here is what I believe you are talking about, IL bill SB0016. I suggest you write you reps opposing this bill and House Bill HR1022.
    ____

Replaces everything after the enacting clause. Amends the Criminal Code of 1961. Provides that 90 days after the effective date of this amendatory Act, it is unlawful for any person within this State to knowingly manufacture, deliver, sell, purchase, or possess or cause to be manufactured, delivered, sold, purchased, or possessed a semi-automatic assault weapon, an assault weapon attachment, any .50 caliber rifle, or .50 caliber cartridge. Provides that beginning 90 days after the effective date of this amendatory Act, it is unlawful for any person within this State to knowingly manufacture, deliver, sell, purchase, or possess or cause to be manufactured, delivered, sold, purchased, or possessed a large capacity ammunition feeding device. Provides that these provisions do not apply to a person who possessed a prohibited weapon, device, or attachment before the effective date of this amendatory Act if the person has provided proof of ownership to the Department of State Police within 90 days after the effective date of this amendatory Act. Provides that on or after the effective date of this amendatory Act, such person may transfer such device only to an heir, an individual residing in another state maintaining that device in another state, or a dealer licensed as a federal firearms dealer. Specifies penalties for violations. Provides exemptions. Provides that the provisions of the Act are severable. Effective immediately.

Since the 'pencil..sic..is mightier then the sword'..an immediate ban/and/or stringent controls is VERY apropo...

Actually, it is true...brave, courageous men take fire and sword in hand to right wrongs...and the moment they go home, cowards start writting laws, rules, regulations designed to emasculate those warriours, that the cowards fear so much....

Pretty good analogy that should be seen by the gun banners. Sadly it, and others llike it will only be seen by us gunners.

How foolish to think that damage that can be done with a .50 caliber bullet is somehow that much worse than what a .49 caliber will do. Kindly like getting run over with a 4,000 lb. car as compared to a 3,900 lb. car. It would make no difference to me. So I would ask the gun banners to quit being "stealthy" about their goals and just come out and ask for a ban on ALL Calibers. That or shut up and try to ban something other than my guns.

Ah, but trfox you should know that the anti's want a death of 20,000 cuts. It is much easier that way. They are going to cut our rights away piece by piece, because that way there will be NO uprising. They WANT an outright BAN but they KNOW that would cause uproar. Divide and concour.

Yes, and the sad event at Virginia Tech will provide all of the anti gun forces the incentive to mobolize. The shooter had a 22 cal (unknown type) and a high cap Glock 9mm. The arguments will urge a reinstatement of the former high cap ban. The dumb bunnies don't realize that you can reload a revolver with a speed loader as quick as you can insert a fresh mag. WE Gun Owners have to unify! There are millions of us, there is strength in numbers. Would one of the experienced moderators start a document for all GunBroker members to sign??[:(!]
