I know the guy that started this gun show. I took the CCW class from him at the exact facility mentioned in this article. I will see if I can find out some "inside" information.

JPFO ALERT: A Gun Show Without Guns?

After reading an advertisement for a Reno, NV gun show in a
firearms magazine, William D. Maniaci, owner of Maccabee
Arms LTD (www.MaccabeeArms.com) purchased two tables for the
event, which was to be held at the Boomtown Hotel and Casino.
Like many firearms dealers, he invested heavily in stock to
be sold at the show.

Last week he received a letter stating that "In light of
the recent unfortunate incident at Virginia Tech," firearms
would not be allowed to be displayed or sold at the show.
That's right -- the "gun show" is now a "sporting goods and
accessories" show.

Understandably upset, Mr. Maniaci is urging all Second
Amendment supporters to boycott all enterprises owned by
Boomtown's parent company, Pinnacle Entertainment Inc. You
can read the full letter by Mr. Maniaci, including a list
of all of Pinnacle Entertainment's holdings, at
www.jpfo.org/maniaci.htm .

Read the letter and make note of these businesses. As Mr.
Maniaci points out, "There are plenty of other hotels and
casinos who are not anti-gun. Why should we patronize
anti-gun establishments?"

Why indeed?

    That is just nuts.
It would be interesting to hear any "inside" info about this, cause the "outside" info SUCKS.

    From the web site.

I got a reply back from my CCW instructor on this issue. He said that he is no longer involved with the property mentioned in this article. Out of respect to him I won't go into detail, but a few months ago he chose not be affiliated with them any longer.

It is an unfortunate turn of events because my wife and I had a great time there last June. It seemed like they had a great setup for the CCW class, but apparently they have some morons up there running the show now.

The big joke of all this is that in a few short months they will be opening a Cabela's adjacent to this property, one of the largest firearms dealers in the country!

Anyhow, if anyone is looking for an excellent CCW instructor in the Las Vegas area, or wanting some advanced tactical firearms instruction, send me a private message and I will pass along his contact info.
