This is OUTRAGEOUS!!!

How is this for a wake-up call? Not a new procedure but it has gotten some attention. I remember a similar case (didn't involve a judge as the perpetrator) going on, back in the 60's, right here involving a wealthy landowner fencing in a portion of another's property to increase HIS holdings. I think they finally settled out of court and the fence was removed. It was my understanding at the time; had it been 7 years since the fence was constructed, without the proper owner taking action, the fence builder would have had a valid claim.

"More than 200 people holding signs that read, "Thou shall not covet, thou shall not steal" and, "You'll never enjoy a stolen view" gathered Sunday on Hardscrabble Drive in south Boulder to condemn Richard McLean, a former district court judge and former Boulder mayor, and his wife, Attorney Edith Stevens, for taking possession of a portion of two vacant lots that have belonged to Don and Susie Kirlin for nearly a quarter of a century."

Hard feelings on Hardscrabble Drive: Adverse Possession case: Boulder Daily Camera (11/19/2007
Juli Marki, a native of Hungary who has lived in the Shanahan Ridge neighborhood in Boulder for 37 years, said she was "appalled" by a district court's decision in favor of McLean and Stevens.
"This reminds me of Communist Hungary," she said. "I can't believe communism has been dead for years and this is happening here."

yep, i hav`nt read everything about this story so i`m only guessing, but it sounds to me like the loophole they used to take the land is called...adverse possesion...i know you are a republic but believe it or not its an old law first introduced by the english, crazy hey??it gets abused here where i am too. i dont know what can be done about it, probly nothin` at all.just because you have a deed locked away in a bank vault doesnt always mean you own the land...
