We have a new gun show ban starting up. This time they plan to shut these down for good. Everyone better get to calling and e-mail their state legislators now.....

The senator that was democrat, turned Independent, won the race, then turned back democrat...name escapes me at the moment.
Be sure and run down and vote for McCain, now...
Lieberman it is.
A VERY senior moment there, as I was dashing out the door.[:D]

From the NRA Web Site.
As expected, anti-gun Senator Frank Lautenberg (D-NJ) introduced his ?_ogun show?__ legislation this week.
Appearing at a news conference on Wednesday, Lautenberg, along with co-sponsor and fellow Democrat Jack Reed (D-RI), and Paul Helmke of the Brady Campaign, introduced S. 2577?_"legislation that would regulate gun shows out of business.
Of course, we will continue to actively monitor the future progress (or lack thereof) of the bill and will apprise you of any developments.
It is to be expected from NJ.
Face it, we've got the choice between McCain and Obama/Hillary. And we KNOW what they intend to do to our gun rights if they get into office.
And we have a Democrat congress, so McCain can't do crap anyway.
Don't ANYBODY think that you can get away with not voting, and trust that the gun grabbers won't get into power because other gun owners will vote instead.
So let me tell you right now, that I'm going to vote. I'm going to vote for somebody I don't totally support. I do find that very sad, and depressing, but I most CERTAINLY find the alternative to be far worse.
And we have a Democrat congress, so McCain can't do crap anyway.
You don't pay attention to politicians do you?
McPuke brings BOTH sides of the aisle together for things like McPuke/Kennedy, McPuke Fiengold, AND mcPuke/Liberman.
So for YOUR silly pipe dream that HE can't do "crap", go back and LOOK at the bills he supported/authored. McPuke is just as liberal as any Democrat, only at least they are upfront and OPEN about their agendas.
Face it, we've got the choice between McCain and Obama/Hillary.
"We've got the choice"[?]
Speak for yourself. I have another choice, Ron Paul, and that is who I will vote for if I have to write his name on the ballot with a friggon crayon.[:(!]
McCain, Hillary, or Obama is no choice at all, and it is that kind of mentality that will push us further to "the point of no return".[V]
Well, I think freemind stomped that mudhole dry in record time....
[:D]
Guess I have big feet.
who want to hurt other people ---
I don't mind having a back ground check -- even every
year ---- so what's the big deal
I don't want to shut down Gun shows -- I just want them to
abide by the same rules as the main stream gun shops --
and the same for their customers ---

Gun Show Loophole
GUNS FOR SALE, NO QUESTIONS ASKED
Anyone in the United States who purchases a firearm must undergo a criminal background check, right?
WRONG
Anyone in the United States who purchases a handgun must undergo a criminal background check, right?
WRONG
The reality: Only retail gun shops, required to have Federal Firearms Licenses (FFL), are required to do background checks on handgun purchases. And although most new firearms are purchased from FFLs, up to 50% of handgun transfers occur through the unregulated secondary market.
Gun shows range from small flea markets with a handful of tables to enormous extravaganzas with hundred of exhibitors. Over 100,000 firearms are sold at the 4,000 gun shows held in this country annually. And while FFLs who participate in gun shows must perform background checks as they would in their stores, private dealers, hobbyists and virtually any individual can sell any manner of firearm at gun shows with virtually no questions asked.
The U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF) ranks gun shows as the second leading source of illegal guns recovered by federal law enforcement. According to the 1999 ATF report Gun Shows: Brady Checks and Crime Gun Traces, "gun shows provide a forum for illegal firearms sales and trafficking."
Guns shows are not subject to federal regulations and more than half of the states fail to regulate gun show operations in any way. States that have closed the gun show loophole and required background checks at gun shows have effectively thwarted criminals, and those that have not continue to attract illegal gun runners.
The two teens involved in the Columbine shooting acquired their firearms from a gun show. In the words of Robin Anderson, the 18-year-old who purchased the firearms for her classmates, Dylan Klebold and Eric Harris, "I didn't want my name on something that I wasn't going to have control of. If I had had to fill out paperwork with a private dealer I would not have done it."
Opponents of closing the gun show loophole have argued that requiring background checks would put gun shows out of business due to lengthy and time-consuming processes that could take days to complete. According to a March, 2000 U.S. Department of Justice report, 95% of background checks are completed within two hours, and 96.5% are completed within 24 hours. Background checks that take longer than 24 hours to complete are 20 times more likely to uncover a prohibited buyer.
We can close the gun show loophole on a national level, but it will take political will.
Not smart enough to read the forum a bit and educate himself.
Oh..wait. We have people that have BEEN here for many YEARS...and STILL aren't smart enough to understand that gun control is gun control..and REAL men bleed their lives into the soil of America attempting to make sure that central government would NEVER gain total power over the Citizens...ever again.
Sad state of affairs [:(] I have lived in Arizona for 25+ years, trust me , you don't want McCain as your President [V]
Well, I think freemind stomped that mudhole dry in record time....
Indeed he did, right handily I must say.[;)]

PS : Both my wife and I finally broke down and signed up for the state concealed weapons class to be held in 2 weeks.. should be interesting, LOL !
They are perfectly aware that millions of guns move around under the radar...and that DOES worry them.
They will feel MUCH more comfortable when they know exactly where and whom owns firearms.
That precise reason is reason enough to absolutely not vote for McCain.
Your safety, and the safety of your children, DEPEND on the government staying in the dark about the exact number and location of the firearms in this country.
Agreed ! The choices are pretty bleak this time around , for sure ! I've lived in Arizona for over 25 years, McCain is NOT my choice , either !
