Illinois gun ban (again)

******** THIS HAS BEEN AROUND, BUT IT BEARS REPEATING *********

URGENT GUN RIGHTS ALERT - IMMEDIATE ACTION REQUIRED

The Illinois Senate is about to debate a ban on semi-automatic rifles and shotguns.

If passed, you would have 90 days to register your guns with the State Police or face arrest and felony prosecution.

If you were caught with an AR-15 and 4 magazines, you'd get life in prison.

THREE THINGS YOU MUST DO TO SAVE YOUR GUN RIGHTS

1. Beginning on Tuesday, March 6th, call your State Senator and POLITELY tell him or her that you are opposed to Senate Bill 16 - the Daley Assault Weapons Ban - and that you would like them to vote against Senate Bill 16 when it comes to the floor. If you do not know who your State Senator is, then visit the following web site: www.ilga.gov: <http://www.ilga.gov/> and then click on the "Legislator Lookup" link in the lower right hand corner of the home page. Follow the instructions at that link.

2. Pass this alert along to all your gun-owing friends; tell them to call their State Senators also.

3. Please post this alert to any and all Internet Bulleting Boards and Internet sites to which you belong.

IF YOU DO NOT ACT NOW, YOU MAY HAVE NO GUNS LEFT BY THE 4TH OF JULY

Why oh why can't the anti-gun liberals make it so that if you committ a violent crime with an AR-15 and 4 mags THEN that particular criminal automatically spends his/her life in prison? Oh wait. That would be too tough on the criminals and would not even touch us peaceful lawful AR-15 gun owners. That would definately not please the anti-gun liberals.

    Nevermind.

Or...you could prepare yourself to resist tyranny.
Allow the garbage to pass whatever law they wish....and refuse to register, turn in, or submit.

The liberals would say this seems logical. Commit a murder with your pocket knife, get paroled in 5 years. Get caught in posession of drugs, get out after about the same. Get caught peacefully owning an AR-15, get life in prison. Insane.

I have five 30 rd mags for my AR15. Does that mean I'll get 2 life sentences???

Locally in KC Missouri, a recent week of gang gun violence has the Chief of Police talking about how "out-gunned" the KCPD are when it comes to weapons on the streets. During several arrests, much mention was made of 2 AR15 "deadly" semi-auto military style rifles and the 100 round barrel type mags. I can already feel the potential city wide gun bans in the minds of the council members.

It would make more sense to pass an automatic death penalty for ANY CRIMINAL MISUSE of a so-called "assault weapon" . that way society could attempt to control the criminals instead of coming into the homes of all lawful gun owners and taking certain of your guns away.

Wait a minute. The liberals don't want to be too harsh on the criminals so forget that death sentence. Maybe life in prison for any criminal misuse of a "assault weapon". Still better to go strictly after the criminals and leeave us lawful, peaceful gun owners alone. I thought that was how an intelligent society was supposed to work.

    Larry29:

    Welcome Aboard.

If 5-30's will get you 2 Life Sentences you might as well go for the gusto. Midway has Stoner 20's and 30's on sale for $9.99. Naturally they are out of stock but they are accepting BO's.

Hello, everyone. I am a new gun owner in Illinois, so I am not very much in the know of the politics of this issue. Just how likely is it to pass? Just how likely is it that our emails and phone calls will make a difference?

When Democrats passed the Assault Weapons ban in 1994, it cost them the House and the Senate. I would think that, being a power hungry crooks, just like all politicians, they would not want to get voted out again.

Anything new with SB0016? The bill status says it still under its 2nd reading as of March 8th. Did it get the boot or are the anti-gunners trying to rally support?

Nothing new. It is interesting that almost every female elected official is for the gun ban.
This is disgusting, we need all to mobilize and unite, instead of fighting it out on the irrelevant gun boards about who of us is a socialist scum and who is a neocon scum

    Totally disagree, I do....
The battle in the crooked legislatures is LOST...if not today, then tomorrow.
What is left is the people themselves...and EVERY TIME somebody reads one post that starts the thinking process...instead of the fuzzy-wuzzy emotional quicksand that passes for thought in MOST Americans...FREEDOM WINS.
The process must needs weed out the hopelessly lost...those believing that government is the ANSWER instead of the problem...and makes the few ever stronger, as the quislings are discovered and rifted out.

If we can postpone the registration until we get less liberal people in Congress and Senate, we can still keep our guns. I am almost willing to bet that .50 cal battle is lost. Too many scared sheep who can imagine people hunting jets from O'Hare airport with .50 cal rifles. However, we need to keep our right for high capacity rigles.
If the battle is lost tomorrow, then more of us can stock up on guns.
If they outlaw guns in Illinois afterwards - that is fine, I will store them in Wisconsin with my uncle:-)

My plans too, although my uncle lives in MO. Also my job maybe moving to the same state so I won't have to worry as much if I move, but it will be a constant problem in the back of my head.
Thank you so much Bacoviwitch! You just spent a stupid amount of money to build a ATA complex in Sparta, IL and no one will be able to use it if you pass that law and your not going to cut down my Winchester 97!

You mean Cook County, right? That country is the source of most of these BS gun laws, bans, etc.

Check out Public Law 87-297 that allows our government to totally disarm all citizens for the orderly take over by the United Nations.
Only if Don Cordell is elected president in 2008 can we stop this treason to disarm America. Check out Executive Orders that allow Marital Law takeover of our nation, then check out "REX 84" about the concentration camps established, manned and ready for use as our government detains citizens who no longer have the right to trials since the removal in 2006 of our Habeus Corpus rights to a trial if we demonstrate against our nation being dissolved and now part of the North American Union, then part of the New World Order under the United Nations. http://www.DonCordellforPresident.com

    fox-

I've read your posts, and just want to express another point of view to you that I think you've missed.

If the idea of passing a law that states that commiting a crime using a weapon should be punished moreso because of the tool, that is not the best thinking, either. Now read this out, because I think you and everyone else need to see this: Punishing for rape, murder or robbery should be enough. How it was carried out means a whole lot less that what was done. In other words, Enforce the law against crime, not the laws against coincident elements. Being in possession of anything is not in or of itself a crime (it unjustly may be a crime because if you don't do what someone else tells you, they will assault you by force, thereby making the law unjust). Misuse of the possession is a crime, but not because of the possession used, but because of what right you took away from someone else.

And now, back to our regularly scheduled program....

Gun registration now there is a scary thought. As someone who used to live in the UK and owned handguns, I can tell you that registration is the first step to the banning of firearms. Since living in the USA I get asked quite often in the gun stores, why did all you pistol shooters hand in your weapons.

The answer is simple all our firearms were registered with the government so when they decided to ban them we had no choice but to hand them in or face 10 years in jail.

Now if the a state mandates registration its too late, the trick is to make sure any gun registration legislation is not passed EVER!

We allready HAVE registration here. Everytime you buy a gun from a dealer, it is LOGGED into their FFL book. THIS IS a PERMINENT record.

Yes this is true however it is not as bad as having a Firearms License that has all your guns and ammo listed on it. Including what you can buy and how much you can buy (ammo).

Also here we don't have the cops coming to our homes to check on our guns and how they are stored every five years.

As someone who now lives here I can tell you gun registration here is nothing by UK standards....

Perhaps, BUT it is STILL gun registration. What, you think we are not two steps behind them?
You miss the new ammo laws they want to pass?
You miss the "Vetran's Disarmament Act"?
JUST to name a few in VERY recent time.
20,000 laws and you think we are worlds apart?
I am willing to bet, you are a NRA member. How wrong am I?
