I am curious as to what is the law for carrying guns in your vehicle for the state of Louisiana?

I would tell the officer about the gun.
ART
Second time officer asked me if I had a permit for my pistol because it was visible, right there by my side. I replied askin if he had a permit for his. He looked a bit suprised until I he saw my ID and then away I went.[}:)]
I always inform the officer of the fact that a handgun is in the car and I make sure both hands are out the window with my handgun on the dash in plain view. I have found that if they know ahead and they see your hands out of the window they are pretty nice about it. I am also super polite and never get an attitude with them.
I got pulled over twice in Mississippi in March, both by state patrol. I always turn my truck off, and have both hands out the window when officers approach.
1)I informed him I was armed. He made me exit the truck, asked where the weapon was at, at took my p7 out of the holster back to his car, telling me to return to my truck. After writing me the ticket, he handed my gun back to me, and told me to have a nice day. This officer was black.
2)Second officer two weeks later pulls me over, I inform him I am carrying, and his hand automatically went to his sidearm. He yelled at me not to make any sudden moves or he would blow my damned fool head off. He did not disarm me, but his attitude was unreal. He returned to hand me my ticket, and had his hand on his gun the whole time. This was a short white cop.
While I did not agree with either one of their approaches, I must say the black officer was a lot more cordial, and proffessional in his dealing with me. I can say it is weird to have a police officer disarm you on the side of the road with cars passing by. It must have been a helluva sight
