I live in NW suburbs of Illinois but part of Cook County. Anyone know how to lookup if I can purchase a semiauto shotgun? Would love to buy an M1Garand. thanks in advance

You kind of lost me. You ask if you can buy a semiauto shotgun, then say you would love to buy an M1 Garand. Just in case you didn't know, an M1 is not a semiauto shotgun, but probably does fall under the Cook county assault weapons ban.

If that site doesn't help, like California, New York (city) and a few other places, when it comes to gun laws, I gave up on Illinois a while back. Those places are SO restrictive on their gun laws, I get depressed just thinking that the citizens allowed that to transpire.

It is a shame that a dealer would have to be an expert in law in order to ship you a firearm. I would not sell you a BB gun, I would suggest that you move from your communist/socialist state and relocate to Kentucky, then I would sell you a tank if you wanted one.

The garand if over 50 yrs old would qualify as CR. Just ask at the local gun shop would be your best bet.
