Juvenile felon rights

OK, we'll start out with a little background. I was a hellion when I was a teen and ended up taking my parents car a few times without permission and got arrested for it. Luckily the corrections system actually gave me the kick in the butt I needed. So I now have 2 Grand Theft Auto charges from when I was 16. They were adjudicated juvenile in the Hillsborough County, FL court system. I have full voting rights, but am wondering if I can legally purchase a firearm. I now currently live in Raleigh, NC (Wake County). Do I need to go through the process of getting my record fully expunged? Thanks for any help.

I am not a lawyer, nor do I play one on TV.

If you were 16, your record may remain sealed as a juvenile offender. You may be eligible for purchasing. Only one real way to find out, but the local PD may be of help.
