did other week in my 30/30. well i did not notice a grouping diff at 50yrds but at 100yrds i did. 50yrds soft nose did 8 rounds in 3" closer to 2". 100yrds soft nose did 4ish. Leverevolution did 2.5-3" closer to 2.5". keep in mind that was benched on sugar sand bag, but with cheap bushnell sportsman scope. I will buy agian

Picked up a box awhile back to try a few. Only shot them across the chrony for velocity reference. Did end up with something unexpected, however. Take a look at my post from a few weeks back:

Something I just posted on the other thread, but call the company and they will want to see that round, probably get some free ammo out of it. Hornady are honorable people, and really into quality control, they will jump all over it I would bet.

The original post was about 44magnum LeverEvolution out of a 44magnum revolver. You started talking about a 30-30 lever action.

Magnum research made a 3030 wheel gun.

Hornaday lists the LeveRevolution ammo for revolvers. I don't remember if they make a special load just for revolvers, but here's a link.

I haven't tried it in my Ruger yet. I just can't bear to put the money out for it.

Thanks Colonel- Just spotted the ammo in one of my new catalogs. Got a feeling the load is a little more tame. Think it will be fun to send down few thru the old Redhawk tube and see how it does.

    FrancF,

I only put a few across the Chrony, but if I recall the velocity was around 1500 fps from a 7 1/2" barrel. Recoil seemed comparable to factory Hornady 240 gr XTP's, which clocked about 1400 fps.

I would say that the LeverEvolution 44 Mag ammo is loaded to max, by 44 Mag standards. Just my opinion, I would like to here from others who have tried it out.
