Leupold 4.5 -14 help

Hello. I have a Leupold 4.5-14X40 VX iii LR with the 30 mil tube and the B+C reticle. I am getting in to Long range shooting and am not sure I understand this whole parallax thing and adjusting for it...(I do have the side knob for adjusting the parallax). Also is this a second focal plane reticle and if so how do I know which magnification setting the scope is calibrated for. Also this is the older vx iii so are the clicks repeatable enough for adjusting. Have been building drop Data using Moa and just need to get out and shoot to determine my loads true BC at 1000. But I have a feeling I need to understand this scope a little more. Thanks in advance.

tp get the parallax right, you adjust it till the cross hairs are sharp while over the target, and if they are sharp, the sight picture should be crystal clear. I dont change my zero once dialed in, the B=C works perfect once you find the right load for your rifle....6 years with mine and have never had to change it. But yes, the clicks repeat....its a great scope!!!

I find the correct parallax setting to sometimes not be the clearest/sharpest setting.

Here is how you adjust parallax out. You set the rifle in a STEADY rest. You turn your head left to right, while looking through the scope. When the crosshairs don't move (on target) as your head is turned from left to right, you have adjusted parallax out.

Call leupold about the power setting for correct distance between the stadia,...I would bet it is 14X.
