190 grain?

demo-dandemo-dan Member Posts: 109 ✭✭
I would like to start using 190 grain loads in my 300 winchester. I noticed that Lazzeroni started using the VLD for the warbird and they sure seem to have some good looking charts. Is anybody familiar with their performance and are they bonded.

Berger VLD's? No, they are not bonded. Performance is outstanding for accuracy, and pretty good for ballistics. There are better .30 cal bullets of course. I had very good luck with them in my .300. Starting load was 74 gr. of H1000 and I topped out at 77.5 for a not too stiff load. You can load up to 81 gr. according to Hodgdon. But, I load them into the lands so knock off a grain or two for max. And, as noted I then downloaded a little from that.
