If I could have only 3 rifle powders, they would have to be 4895 (either IMR or Hodgon,) Varget or Reloader 15, and 4350 (probably IMR, but Hodgon would work.)
If I could have more than 3, I'd throw in 4831, and Reloaders 17-22 just for variety and to experiment with.
For handguns, Unique is my do all, but there are several others that are climbing my list including Win 231.
What say you?

Unique is the only pistol powder I use (.45, 9mm, and .380) and my rifle powders are VARGET and IMR 4350 (.223, .30-06, and .280 Remington).
I'm converting my .30-06 and .280 loads from IMR 4350 (although the results have been very good) to VARGET in order to simplify my powders (one pistol, one rifle powder).
Unique, BlueDot, Bullseye or 231.
HP-38 / AA9 for pistol.
4198 or 4759 for small cartridges
4895 or 4064 for medium to large
4350 or perhaps 4891 for Magnums or other stiff charges in conventional.
For handgun, I'll take:
Bullseye
Trail Boss
2400
4831 for the 25-06 and 243 and in a pinch for the Wby
4198 or H322 for 222, 223, and 6.8
Unique for the pistols
rifle only
IMR8208XBR
4895 for everything from .222 Rem to .30-06, even though I have better loads with other powders.
RE-17
H1000 for the magnums.
My rifle calibers prefer IMR 4198 and 3031, so I keep these on hand.
Unique for pistols.
T.G. & Win 296 for .357mag full house loads.
H4831 SC, H1000, & H4350 for 7mm Rem Mag
Red Dot for light 1 1/8oz loads & Long Shot for heavy 1 1/4oz(all 12ga)
