Trying to find shotshell reloading specs for Remington Power Piston, 12 gauge plastic shell. Its not in Lyman's reloading book. I'm new to reloading shot gun but have several of these shells, I would like to reload for my grandson. Thanks for any help.

For target.
17.5 gr. 700X, or Clays works for about everything.
(thought you bought a 20 ga.??)
Need more info.
Look in here for Alliant powder.

Here for Hodgdon powder
Red Dot is a good powder for low recoil target loads.
I use any combo of these for my target loads:
Hull: Win AA, Rem STS, Gun Club
Primer: Win 209
Wad: WT12, WAA12
Shot: 6, 7 1/2
Powder: Red Dot 17.5-18.0gr
I use Green dot for a little faster. I just loaded 400 shells# 6 last night just to get rid of some Unique I bought for .357.(burns dirty & rather clean out of shotgun barrel than my GP-100)
My heavy 1 1/4oz loads I use Hodgdon LongShot 28gr. with a WAA12F114 equivialent wad.
AA's were the hull of choice. I have some Uplands with hi brass that take the same load but are 6 pt.
I load my AA's as shot mags 3 3/4 DE, 1 1/4 of shot or slug.
I have used about every type plastic hull the last 40 years and found it doesn't seem to make much difference in pattern, just what you like and maybe how many loads you get out of them. 12 ga. hulls are really available at most ranges for free (look in the trash cans).
Conversion of the MEC is simple and takes less then 15 minutes. Lots of used equipment on the market so put an ad in the "wanted" area if you can't find one on GB already.
Shotgun is the easiest thing to load, so if your already doing pistol this will be a snap.
An OLD Remington shell would require the obsolete #57 primer instead of the common #209. The #57 is smaller diameter.
So my free "advise" is to find a load in your book you like and THEN get the exact components. You started out trying to load on the cheap with what you had and got some good safe information. Can't have it both ways. So start out exact until you feel comfortable.
