shotgun shell/primer. Info?

Been metalic reloading since I was a kid. Just getting into shotshell reloading. Bought a used set up. Came with press powder a few primers and wads. I got some shot and a big bag of spent mixed hi brass hulls. Some will fit my primers perfect others will not.
My question.
Anyone know anywhere online with info on what hulls take which primers?

Some of the old Remington cases took a smaller primer (157 IIRC). Almost all the current stuff is the larger 209 size.

The ones that "don't fit my primer" happen to be Remington headstamp? At various times, Remington used an oddball sized primer-#57(?) IIRC. Best advice is to toss those.

If they aren't even close to fitting, I'd say you have hulls that are not even close to being modern supplies, ancient. Ditch them. You can buy 1000 1 fired hulls for $50-55 shipped.

If they are tight, don't fit, press them in.

You should be using only 209 primers from whomever manufacture you choose. I only buy WIN209 myself. I know people like to use fed & rem also, just personal preference.

Look here for info if you don't have any books:
    www.alliantpowders.com
    www.hodgdon.com

    They both have reloading data.

You should check the post by clays7575, "primers". He has some G57 primers and is looking for cases he can use with these primers.
