I'm looking at a savage model 19055 in a .308 caliber . Does anyone have this model and how well does it shoot. I have several savages and they are tack drivers. I want to use this for some competitive shooting. Thanks[:D]

I don't have one because I use custom rifles but the reviews are reasonably positive for it being a Savage. It's a factory rifle and will perform to that level or less depending on the consistency of the factory that day. It will not be a 'miracle' rifle from Savage no matter what the copywriters have written.
How well it shoots will depend upon several variables since accuracy is based on the entire system and the shooter's ability, of course. Simply threading on a '5R' barrel does not insure an improvement in accuracy although I personally use the 5R rifling form in my barrels. Mine are cut-rifled from Bartlein as opposed to the Savage button rifling. If nothing else, they are easier to clean...
5R rifling has been around for a long time, it's nothing new. Savage has just figured out how to make this rifling in their barrels, cheap.

There are lots of different forms of competition and you will need to be a little more specific for us to be able to add any help from this aspect. Generally speaking though, you could use the Savage for club shoots and fun shoots or maybe some introductory Tac matches. But without modifications you need to give us some more information.
Best.
