Sabots

Did a search for sabots on this site and one other. Only info I found was two+ years old. Anyone using or experimenting with these in 308?
Manufacturers website states they re-engineered the sabots to eliminate earlier problems, like the sabot breaking up in the barrel or snagging on muzzle break on the way out.

I have varmint rifles for varmints but I would love to try some .284 162 BTHP in a 458 or 45-70.

My experience with sabots confirms they're not worth the effort except as a frustration building tool. I did get some decent groups BUT it took 10-20 shots to get there and that accuracy only lasted 10-15 shots. Wasted quite a few .224 bullets, primers, and powder before giving up.

Original intention was to have a "fur friendly" sabot round for my 30/06 deer rifle to slip in should Wiley trot past my stand. Discovered the chance of hitting with a first shot saboted .224 beyond 100' was "extremely optimistic".

I have some boxes the Remington sabotted rounds which I purchased when they first came out. Never could get a really good group. Maybe that is why they stopped making them. At least I haven't seen them in quite awhile.

The Remington Accelerators are apparently becoming collectors items????
GB auctions are asking $3.00 each for the 30-06 rounds. I'm going to stash my two boxes and see what happens.
