The last batch I loaded backwards, I used 3.5 grains of W 231. Out of my 2" tube at 10 meters the bullets will often stay in a milk jug full of water. Jug is blown apart but has only the entrance hole.

3 grains of Bullseye was my favorite 38 Special load for many years. 4.5 in the 45ACP.

Your accuracy will probably go out the window. A short barrel coupled with a slow bullet will make 'follow through' on your trigger pull/shot critical.

A higher velocity will get the bullet out of the barrel and down range to the target more efficiently IMO.

Back in my PPC competition days, I used light loads for indoors. One night I used my outdoor (50 yard instead of 50 feet) loads and my scores went up 5 points. The bullets were on target before I could muck things up on the revolver end.

A friend and I tried 148 HB's backwards, out of different lengths of barrels and at different velocity levels. Center of gravity was way too much to the rear, possibly compounded by a 'parachute' nose, resulting in tumbling bullets (right after leaving the muzzle). But a round impacting sideways is pretty effective too. Any long-range shooting, is out.
