H335 primers?

I'm loading .223 Rem rounds with 24.5 grains of H335 under Berry's 55 grain FMJBT bullets and have been using standard CCI small rifle primers. It's not a screaming fast load, but I get great accuracy and flawless function with this load.
My Speer manual (#14) says I should use magnum primers with H335.
The Hogdgon website uses standard Winchester small rifle primers.
What do you guys think? Magnum or standard and why?

I tend not to fool with success. Somewhere there is list of actual primer performance as rated in tests.

I run CCI's in about everything.

No need to move to magnum primers unless you plan on shooting these in very cold weather. If it's igniting just fine it will continue to do so.
Move these into very cold weather and you could well see a dropoff in velocities as standard primers won't light off double based powder, the speed of H335 as well. A little slower is all.

I have always used mag primers when using ball powders.

My "logic", flawed though it may be, is that the small rifle primer was designed to ignite small charges of fast burning powder such as used in the .22 Hornet and the .218 Bee. As such I have always used small magnum primers in the .222 and 5.56/.223. I have always had very consistent results and no signs of pressure problems with IMR 4198, H-322 and H-335.

Matters not. Long as the load is safe with the specific primer you are using.

I have loaded thousands of rounds of 223 using H335 and have always used standard small rifle primers with no issues.

I use what ever primers that are listed in the reloading manual using their bullet and powder recommendations.

I've always used CCI #41 in all my AR ammo(which is what I load with 335, 748, WCC844). Never had an issue and provides adequate accuracy.
