Geco Brass - Range pickup fun

KronyKrony Member Posts: 303 ✭✭
So loading 9mm today finishing the last of some AA#2. Pull the lever and get a firm "stop" just before full stroke. Check the cases and they are all straight, bullet straight, etc. Pull case from the sizing spot and it is a berdan primed Geco 9mm+P brass case. Glad I didn't force it, could have made quite a mess!

Anyone else have that surprise?

I always give my brass a good look over...usually only grab my own. Never thought I'd have to check for berdan primers.

Yes, have done that. Learned that any foreign sounding headstamp name must be checked for Berdan priming. Also learned to keep extra decapping pins on-hand.

I got started in reloading with a Lee Loader kit which involves de-priming by hand with hammer & punch. Still doing that part the same way, requires inspection of brass that otherwise may not be done.
