Finally bought a Ruger77/44.Been wanting a Ruger 44 mag rifle for many years.Found my favorite 250gr SWC GC bullet will not feed from the mag.310 gr Lee cast does fine and I have a box of Hornady 240 XTP bullets.Any suggestions on a good 44 mag rifle load?

A powder with a relatively "slow" burn rate. I don't think you'll "overdrive" the 240 XTP from a 44 mag case. Son used that bullet in a sabot from his .50 ML reaching around 2000fps w/o having bullet performance issues.

My 94AE will feed the Lyman 429421 without issues if cycled slowly. I bought a RN 240 gr SAECO that works great no matter what and it will hold one more round in the magazine.

My favorite was 5744 in my 29's until they changed it to short cut. I switched to BlueDot and have been happy.

Hornady 240 gr XTP, 22gr 2400, magnum primer, heavy roll crimp at cannelure. Used many years in a Marlin 1894 with good results. Also used in Ruger Redhawk for hunting.
