I have shoot both, I like sporting clays too. I started back in high school early 70's as prep for real bird season. Best day was some factory Remington lady shooter (sorry I forgot her name) let me shoot a round with her custom 3200. She even gave me the ammo and bought the birds too.

Second best day was at the end of my first round of SC. Buzz Faucet told me I was the first to shoot at his range with a combat 870 and shot way better than he would have ever expected with a hand held.

I religiously shoot one round of trap every year weather I need it or not. I shot a round of skeet once with a borrowed 6000.00 20 gauge shotgun and got 8.

Both on a fairly regular basis. Also shoot sporting clays when I have the chance. Trap gun is a bt-99, most of my skeet shooting is with a Citori XS in 28 gauge, also have the same in 20 gauge. My worst station as a right handed shooter is skeet #2 high house..

Registered skeet; occasional trap, 5 stand, & sporting clays. Started shooting skeet with a set of bobski's tubes in a 3200.

Well I've been involved in the trap game (16 yard and continental) since the late 60's. For the most part I poke at 'em with my Remington 870. In the 70's I was part of the PITA shooters group. Hunted with the same gun. About 35 years were spent working part time in a gun shop that specialized in shotgun repair and custom barrels. (screw-in chokes, backboring, rust bluing etc) On sunny days I still take my trusty DH Parker out to the range and scare the hell out of targets !

Started off life shooting Bullseye. Took up Skeet much later (long long after enjoying upland game hunting and Duck Hunting (pass shooting - NO decoys!)

My regret is that I never broke the first 25 in a row to get my hat shot. The next move would have been 50, 75, then 100 (as you know)

Looking back at it, some coaching would have helped, but the best coach I knew was busy developing the youth (as he should)

    So...Skeet

I prefer skeet over trap and don't care for sporting clays. it comes across as just golf with shotguns.

ive shot or owned just about every American shotgun made.
and it seems my favorites have always been the super xm1, the model 12, the model 50, and the Remington 3200. I own and shoot krieghoffs, but ehhhh....I wouldnt mortgage the house for one. I prefer the beefy old American wood guns.
I sold off my entire browning double auto collection and no longer enjoy older brownings.
maybe an old ST100 would turn my head...but that's about it.

What are your thoughts on 5 Stand? We used to shoot that at the local DNR range during our lunch break

I shoot skeet twice a week...at one club they shoot wobble skeet. I also shoot sporting clays on occasion..

My go to skeet guns are a pair of Remington 1100 Skeet B models in 12 and the large frame 20 ga.

Ha! Not dodging lava, that's a long way from NC. But I am hanging in there though; seems like all I'm doing is loading shells and shooting them up. The older I get though 100's are getting harder to come by. I still enjoy reloading. Got a friend interested in skeet and I'm going with him while he's practicing a whole lot. Using up more shot practicing than at registered targets now. He's getting better with all this practicing & it's making me develop bad habits. Wish I hadn't got rid of my 3200 but I may have another some day. I haven't been through as many different shotguns as you have though. After the 3200 I acquired a K-80 barrel set in about '86' and that was my primary skeet gun for 25+ years. A few years back when I retired I figured I'd try out some different guns with the high ribs; got a couple super sport F3's and another K-80 with the pro sport ribbed barrel (tube sets). It's fun learning to shoot them but my averages are suffering. Shoot the 12ga events with my SX1 at regular and my 1100 at doubles. Guy's told me I should stick to my old K-80 that I shoot better scores with and quit screwing around with different ones. But I'm having fun. Not traveling so much now to tournaments, just going to local clubs & close neighboring states. Used to also referee which was an incentive and helped with entry fees but I enjoy not having to be out in the rain and sun all day long now at 3 and 4 day shoots. Haven't been to a world shoot since they quit having them in Savannah; don't look forward to the long drives anymore.

I stopped the world in 96.
and im in the shoot them all and who cares about scores now as well.
I got bored going 100 straight.
so I up'ed the antie and made it...shoot 4 different ranges anywhere in the nation and go 25 straight at each one in a row, or start over. it gives me some excitement when I pull into a new range and never shot it...and try to go 25 cold turkey.
then go to another and pray I dont screw up.
    marlin...pm me.

2 trap ranges within 15 minutes from the house. 1 is just a regular old country style trap range with 2 traps, and the second is a large facility with up to, I believe 18 or so traps, as well as 2 skeet fields and an actual Olympic style bunker with 15 machines in it. Try and shoot with them whenever they are shooting it.

I had the privilege of shooting Skeet with good friends who at various times had won the Pennsylvania State Skeet Championship and are enshrined in the Pennsylvania Skeet Hall of Fame. I learned some from them, and love the game, but I don't think I'll ever have that kind of talent. And life has been in the way for much shooting the last several years... I mostly use a Browning Citori skeet gun 12 gauge with Kolar tube set; sometimes though we would have pump gun shoots just for fun and the challenge! I shoot some trap also, currently using a Winchester Diamond Grade 101 Trap. My wife, now seriously ill, used to shoot with us, and became pretty good at the sport, with her Remington 1100 Skeet. The camaraderie of the Skeet game and teams was probably the best part of all for us. Trap tends to be not as friendly a sport, at least that is the impression I developed over almost 50 years.

8 was a mainstay for decades....then 8.5 shot came out.
    did it ever take off?

For years I shot all my PITA registered 16yd targets with 8-1/2 or 9's.
I had no trouble staying in the high 90's. (even got money from time to time)

I know what PITA means in the trap world and I also know what it means to me when I shoot trap.Rest assured, they are not the same.

    Rem 1100 left handed Mag

Marlin LC Smith 20 O/U (that was my 'skeet' gun after using a 870 20).

Savage Fox Model B SxS 20 gauge

    What do I need? I know a fella with a Kreighoff....I can always ask[:D]

I was a spoiled kid and had access to a Win Mdl 12 Skeet (just like Curtis Lemays!!!! Dad was SAC), but busted many a duck with the Model B and a 16 gauge single shot 'Whippet'. All but the 'B' are long gone.

was invited to quaker hill r&g today. shot with some zone 1 champs and serious skeet shooters and had the time of my life. what a great bunch of guys.
its nice to bump into old school shooters that shoot 4 boxes just to warm up and that still shoot doubles to loosen up.[;)]
