500 S&W versus .30-30, .35 Rem. etc?

Can anyone point me in the right direction on this one? I'm trying to find out case sizes, length, rim diameter, etc. of the .500 S&W versus other rounds offered by Marlin, such as the .450, .45/70, .35 Rem. .30-30, etc? Have another idea floating around in the back of my head. I'm sure most of you guys know how that is.

kinda new site, i joined for the 12 bucks it costs and have found it really usefull, i normally browse reloaders nest or good ole Steve's pages when looking at loads. ammoguide has all the #'s on the cases on a comparison page, you can compare 8 different cartridges or loads at the same time...

Oh by the way tell me how the new big bore lever gun comes out, i'm working on a big bore bolt gun, i want a 50 beowulf bolt action with a 24/26" bbl.

Well I'm not sure if you know this but I'm in gunsmithing school. Right now I'm in the bling phase of it, later on come scustom work and metalworking. Gives me an exciuse to fool around with stuff, and I don't have to charge myself so it cuts down on the cost. That, and I'm planning on opening shop up in Alaska when I'm done, kind of want a .500 S&W/Linebaugh or .475 Linebaugh. we'll see what happens.

The 450 Marlin is way ahead in energy over most of the others you mention.Ammo and brass is easy to get and cheaper.
I built one an FN 98 action and love it. It will put 3 rounds in a cloverleaf at 100 yds with Hornady factory ammo.
You have to load the 45/70 hotter than a depot stove to equal it.
The 500 S&W aint even close.
    Study it.

The downside, however, for us wimpy little girly-men is that the 450 thumps nearly as hard on both sides of the equation. Lovely little round for an argument-stopper on big damn critters, but I can't shoot 'em. Too many bike accidents have left my shoulders unable to cope with the recoil.
