H&R 45-70 pressure limits

I see this action style being used by NEF, Rossi and others for the whole family of 30-06 cartridges these days. I have a Hornady manual putting the H&R action in the "trapdoor" class. I see some loads listed for Marlin 1895 in other manuals I would like to use. What's my limit? Just how strong is the H&R single shot break action?

Hello a number of years ago H&R "MADE" a trap door repro so this is what may be the listing in the reloader manuals that you are seeing. Not the current break open model I would contact H&R to get their take on the subject.

Just remember that it's a 45-70 "pumpkin roller" (it's not a 458WM and never will be) and enjoy the old girl at the velocities/pressures it was intended to be used at.
