45-70 load

Hey all,

I am looking for a load for the 45-70 with a 300 Gr. Nosler Partition. I have the 5th Edition Nosler manual and am limited to the 5 powders listed. I was wondering if anybody has any data using IMR3031 or IMR4320 powder? Right now I am using the IMR 4198, but would like to test the two previously mentioned powders.

    I have a 16" contender with muzzle tamer and would like the best 300 grn load for it[:)]

    most all powder and bullet companys have web sites with lots of reloading data. Google 45-70 reloading and you will have much more. Do not use loads from a public forum such as this without double and tripple checking with bona-fide data sources. I too shoot 45-70 and have saved dozens of pages of good loading data. It is really easy to find. Don't take data from strangers - you have a book - use it. Just for a start try accuratepowder.com and there are many many more. I like 5744 and IMR SR4759

    This is an awesome load straight from Ken Waters. 50 grains of IMR3031 with 300 grain bullets. Superb accuracy. I knocked down a nice 8 point with this load last December. This is out of "Pet Loads" by Ken Waters.
