H380 is an older type spherical(ball)powder (not one of the newer Hodgdon Extreme powders) and is more temp. sensitive than the newer "extreme" ones.
That being said, I don't think it is any more sensitive than other ball powders like W748, H335, H414, BL-C(2), etc.

Love H-380 for my 22-250 and I have seen a few Rem 700's fall victim to the powder on very hot days shooting 200+ rounds Varmint hunting. However they were near or at max loads using mag primers.

In short, The charges were near redline to begin with, then add heat a hot chamber, and theres the mix for a bad day. The cure is if you use a hot primer, back the powder off at least 1/2 grain or more.
