    wap41,

The 7x75R Vom Hofe came out in 1939 by E.A. Vom Hofe and is nearly identical to our 7mm Remington Magnum and was usually regulated with 160 grain Noslers.

A chronograph makes it easier to work up loads. The manufacturer of the cases will make a difference as to the amount of pressure and therefore velocity accommodated. The easiest way to get started is to use the minimum loads for the 7mm Remington Magnum and work up slowly watching for signs of pressure. Working with the 160 gr. Nosler Partitions, I stopped at 67.8 gr. of Re-25 for an accuracy load using a Ruger #1 and a custom barrel. The velocities should be in the neighborhood of 2850 and maybe a bit higher. The 175 gr. Partitions worked well with either Re-25 or Retumbo, one of the few times the Retumbo performed for me. The 175's should come in somewhere around 2750 to 2800 fps.

If you get stuck, call the Walter Gehmann Co. (GmbH) to get additional guidance:

    wap41,

There is a difference in that IMR doesn't make a powder as slow as what you might want with this case capacity and the heavier bullets. You can use the data for IMR-7828(SSC) on their website. Use the minimum starting loads and work up slowly.

Which Martini action did you use for this cartridge?

    wap41,

Thanks! I was curious as to which model you were using to contain this cartridge, both length and maximum pressure. The OAL is listed as 3.820" with a maximum operating pressure of about 60,000 PSI.
