Used Burris Signature series. The 6-24x with the Balistic plex reticle should fill the bill nicely. They will also add this reticle to any existing scope,..so getting a good deal on one with any reticle is also an option.

If no joy on the Burris,..look VERY HARD at the weaver grand slam series. These use the micro-trak system that makes their target scopes so competitive. The 6-20x40 version with 1/8moa dot would make a great varmint/target scope as well.

    one of the BEST scope's on the market,is the "T" series weaver.i have had really good luck with them.the best.[;)].i shoot a t-10 on a remington 700 .223,a t-16 0n a rem.700 243,a t-16 on a rem.700 25-06,and a t-25 on a rem.700 22-250.[;)]you can sight in at 50yds,100yds,200yds what ever,by a simple click of the dial and go to what ever range and back again,AND BE ON TARGET EVERY TIME.

I'm not real happy with the clarity in the new Weavers. I bought a Weaver Target scope for a buddy and we put it side by side with a Leupold VX-III and the difference in clarity was striking...both of us were very suprised to see how much better the Leupold really was. I suggest going with a VX-III.

Another vote for Burris. I just got a Fullfield II and like it alot, with $450 limit I would go to the Signature line of Burris.
