Where Buy Powder?

After about 30 years I am back into reloading. Where is the best place to purchase gunpowder? Online or Cabelas or Bass Pro-Shop or go to the local gun store?

And is there any limit to the number of primers or the pounds of powder I can have on hand at any one time?

Thanks for any advice.

www.midsouthshooterssupply.com Has some good prices. Give them a look. Only problem with online is a $20 haz mat fee. I order online because I save about $6 per lb rather than buying at the store. Doesn't take much to offset the haz mat.

I dont believe there is any limit, but don't quote me on it. I do know that you can order 64 lbs of powder on one haz mat fee.

Planning on keeping more than that? [8D]

No. I just assumed that the liberals had already found a way to create another trap that turns peaceful, lawful, gun owners into criminals.

Midway is cheaper. So go buy it from your local gunshop- save HAZMAT fee in shipping, and so that your local gunshop is still in business when you need something else.

Does your local gunshop have the powder you are looking for? How many pounds are you going to buy? My local gun shops only stock a few powders and only in one pound canisters. They are 15 to 25 percent more expensive favorite seller at the local gun show or online/catalog. I buy from the gunshop sometimes, for good will or if I am in desperate need. I never buy enough at one time to benefit from ordering online.

[8D]-Yo tr-I buy MOST of my powder and primers from MIDWAY, but a LOT to offset the HAZMAT cost--

--Check out SINCLAIR, because even though they're usualy higher they are having a break on primers-check em out--

--If you're only buying a few specific powders-get them locally !!!

Not as long as you ignore Fire Code. (not a criminal violation)

Midway is priced way to high on powder. The extra sur-charge they have makes on top of the haz mat fee makes the final price almost insane.

tr fox, the best two places I have ordered from online are Widners at:
    http://www.wideners.com/

    and Graf's and sons at:
    http://www.grafs.com/

They both (last time I bough a big order) paid the shipping, but they have a processing fee per order and everyone has to pay the Hazmat fee. Both had good prices.

Your about as well off if not better buying it at a gun store as ordering it on line after you pay the $20 extra hazmat fee. Gun shows are the best place to buy it.

Another great place is gamaliel.com. I can buy my powder and primers from Gamaliel and pay the hazmat and shipping and still save $14 over the higher price, 7% tax, and $10 worth of gas to drive to my local dealer. Not to mention the two hours of driving time. Can't beat door-step delivery and saving $14 at the same time.
