sights getting fuzzy, need help

I shoot CMP at our local range and have been using my prescrip. glasses as safety glasses to be able to focus on the front sight post. I was wanting something a little more protective than my regular glasses. Was wanting to know if anyone has used Decot Hy-wyds, Zeiss Scopz, or the Bob Jones sight system. Have looked at Knoblochs but dont know if you can use them with a pair of safety glasses. Thanks for your help.

    Hello You did not say if CMP rifle or Pistol but Knoblochs are very good because you can adjust them to have the center of the lens in line between your eye and the sights . The down side is they offer very little protection as you stated .. You need a big lens such as the Decot but get a pair of shooting glasses that set high enough that you are looking through the center of the lens when holding the Firearm . Any of the AVIATOR style frames are a good choice.

    Thanks for the info. I was kind of leaning toward a pair of prescrip. shooting glasses anyway but the cost was holding me up.

    Make sure the eye
    doctor has a thorough
    understanding of what you
    actually need. After a
    lengthly explanation
    of what I desired and even bringing
    a pistol barrel in to help
    explain I still got
    just plain ole script safety glasses.

    I believe all the experts will tell you to focus on your front sight and don't worry about everything else being out of focus.

    Every set of eyes is different, but I'll just throw into the mix that I am very nearsighted. I can only see something without glasses if it is an inch from my face, and am legally blind without glasses in my right eye, and nearly so in my left. The big "E" on an eye chart is a blur in both.

    That said, I can shoot both rifle and pistol no problem with my regualr prescription glasses. I would start there and make sure you don't need new glasses first, and then go on to more drastic solutions.

    A few years ago, my boys began out-shooting me in off-hand pistol shooting. While I wasn't thrilled, I wrote if off as getting older. My wife beat me into geting my eyes checked, and I ended up with my first pair of glasses. Well, my scoring came up some, but I had the problem with sight/target focus.

    While trying to solve this problem, the right lense of my glasses fell out. I'm right handed and right eyed - shooting with both eyes open.
    With no lense in my right eye, my sights were in focus. With the correction in my left eye, the target was in focus.

    When I went back to have my glasses fixed, they just replaced them with a new pair. I asked if they could make me a pair from the aviator styled safety glasses, but without correct the right eye.
    It has worked out great, for $ 18.00.
