Does any one load blc-2 for .223 with a 50 gr nosler ballistic tip? I need a starting point A friend of mine loads this powder in several of his rifles and I was wanting to try it.
I am finding my self leaning more toward hodgdon powder they seem to be very consistent powders

As a ball powder, reloaders could get a higher load density and better performance as opposed to using the log-like stick powders that were prominent during the same period. BLC-2 has fallen from favor in the general market due to the influx of newer and better designed powders.
It is better suited for use in cartridge cases with more capacity than the .233 Remington. It is slightly slower than what you need for the small cases and you can't really get enough in the case to create an efficient, clean burning load. The coatings leave some significant fouling in the barrel even when the load is correctly balanced. Magnum primers are the mainstay for igniting many of the ball powders and BLC-2 is no different.
It's a good powder, not a great powder but it will perform better in a larger case.
Best.
