Odd dies

SCorversSCorvers Member Posts: 2,063 ✭✭✭✭✭
I posted this on the Experts forum also, but here goes.
I got a set of dies that measure .62 in girth and are fine thread. They are for .308 Win. I have never seen any dies such as these before.
So what say you? Who makes'em and what brand of press do they fit?

    SCorvers,

If the threads on the dies you describe are approx. .62" in diameter, they are likley old Lyman dies. They would fit a rather small press called the "Tru-Line Jr"(there may be others). As this is not a particularly strong or powerful press, the dies are almost certainly neck sizing only.
    Hope this helps.

The Ideal-Lyman dies are 30 threads per inch and are commonly marked with code numbers on the early (nutcracker) sets. Later ones use common caliber designations.
Check to see if they are really 30 tpi, as there are other rarer (in the U S) similar dies, Simplex, for instance.
    Cheers from Darkest California,
    Ross
