    slinger,

The answer to this question can go a couple of different ways.

The .223 WSSM factory cases are unique since they don't make them as a derivative of another case. But the basic design is similar to the WSM line of cartridge cases. Obviously the WSSM cases are shorter but the shoulder angle is 28 degrees instead of the 35 degrees that is used for the WSMs.

The original concept was most likely the .404 Jeffery from which the Canadian Magnums were created. Skipping some details we arrive at the RSAUMs and the WSMs from which you could suggest that we got the WSSMs by merely squashing down these types cases. If you wanted to make .223 WSSM cases I suppose you could do this, however, I can assure you that this will lead to all sorts of problems with neck reaming and neck turning in order to get the right diameters from the thicker body of the longer case.

You could also neck down some of the .243 WSSM cases or even some of the .25 WSSM cases.

    Best.
