    thats a 1:9 twist, so I'd go with a 55 gr fmj.

check out the M193, good prices here: http://iidbs.com/hitech/

Great load in my Rem. 700 BDL--26 gr. Hodgdon H-335--Hornady 50 gr.sp--R-P brass---CCI br primer. Shoots sub 1/2" 5 shot groups at 100 yds.The twist in your barrel my be quicker,so who knows?May be worth loading a few to try. That is the only way to know for sure.

the twist rate in the mod 700 is 1:12, which is great for lighter bullets. OSS, you should try some 45 grains, might get even better groupings.

hmm. sounds like a little competition. [8D]

Besides, I bet my 223 heavy barreled handi rifle can outshoot your remington any day of the week

My Mod. 70 likes 4198. With the Hornady 50 gr. SX, 22.2 gr. should get about 3,300 fps. That's fairly hot, but I've gone as high as 22.9 gr. for 3,400 fps. In a mini 14 that I used to own, 3031 was the ticket. With the same bullet, 25.1 gr. gave 3,300 fps. A max load of 25.7 gr. got 3,400 fps, but the accuracy fell off. As always work up slowly.
