powder for 7mm

ibffsteveibffsteve Member Posts: 582 ✭✭✭✭
Its time to start loading for the 7mm Rem I got. I would like to try one of the VV powders for a change, But which one? N160, N165 or N560?
Going to be a paper punching load, something mid power range and using bulk bullets around 140 or 150 gr in either the Rem Core lokt or the Win Power Point.

There is no pleasure in having nothing to do;the fun is having lots to do and not doing it.

agree with you on n165, 64 grain for either 140 or 150 grain bullet, you can go to 66 grs, but you would be maxing out the load....[^]

    Steve,

If you take a look at the Lapua website and select the Vihtavuori Reloading section, you can check out the loads for any of the cartridges that they test for. There is a .pdf for download if you want.

V V N-165 is the most efficient of the 3 powders that you list. The Vit. book lists starting loads at 65.0 gr. with a 145 gr. SPBT which is right in between the 2 weights that you are considering. The maximum load stops at 71.4 gr. I have seen better accuracy towards the upper end but be sure to start low and work your way up carefully.

    More load information:

    Best.
